Overall, had a great experience using NRG Clean Power to install my solar system (6.3 kW on 15 panels with a Powerwall 3 and whole home backup) and would recommend them as a solar contractor. Worked with NRG over about 6 months, from initial proposal and prelim solar plans to PTO with my utility. Their communication was very good, and generally fairly timely in responding to me. The installation coordinator, Aracely, also went above and beyond to make sure that I was happy with all aspects of the install process.

Engineering / design:
The engineering and design process took nearly 2 months, a little longer than expected. However, there were some complications with my house discovered during the process, which necessitated some additional back and forth with the engineering team

Permitting:
This took almost 2 month. NRG handled all of the coordination with the city, but the city was just slow in processing the plan approvals and permits

Installation:
Aracely coordinated the install process and got an installer on site for the install the following week. The install itself went fairly smoothly, however, I noticed some damage to the front glass panel on my Powerwall 3. Aracely was able to order a replacement panel and make things right. Felt that she genuinely wanted to make sure I was completely happy with the install and I really appreciated that.

All in all, had about as good of an experience as one could hope for when hiring a contractor to work on the house.

The solar energy project was an incredible experience for my family and it was transformed into a wonderful adventure since we met NRG! Energy Sage guided us to pick a company that would fulfill our needs. With their advice, we selected NRG Clean Power. It was a very smooth process with NRG. They helped us download the NRG Clean Power app. The entire process went through several phases. Each phase had a manager who immediately connected with me by sending me an email and linking through the app. The manager sent us updates on their progress. Each manager sent us information, data, drawings, and updates. We had our solar system installed by Matthew Lamel and his installation team. The entire process was smooth and organized very well. Matt would send an email to let us know what would happen. He explained the process very well. I downloaded the NRG Clean Power app that showed us the progress that was being made. We had a new manager at every stage who guided us through the process. Matt also let me know when documents would be sent to us by mail and would be prepared and we kept a lookout for these documents. Matt sent us an email to inform us when the installation team was going to arrive and when the material was going to arrive. This gave us time to prepare. Everything took place on schedule. The installation team was professional, courteous, and very well-informed. Even the inspection by the City went very smoothly and the inspector was very pleased. We are very pleased with Matt and this team! Thank you very much, Matt!! We have had solar panels for almost a year without any issues. NRG contacts us regularly to check if everything is fine. It was such a wonderful experience

We contracted with NRG Clean Power to expand an existing solar panel + battery system on our home in San Francisco. We had a great experience with them. They organize the process into specific steps and walk you through each step. They have a person on their team who leads each step before handing you off to the next person. Their team is communicative and supportive. A few snags and corrections came up along the way, and they were right on top of it. The system is installed, working, and signed off by the city. Great job, thank you NRG!

We have been very impressed with the entire process. Our account manager took care of everything for us from the HOA to the county permits. What impressed me most was after we were installed a few months I became aware that a new rebate incentive had started. I needed copies of the county permits and licensing information for our NRG installer. Connie Batiste was able to find all the needed information I needed for a SMUD rebate. She sent it to me the very next day. We would have lost over $1000 without Connie’s help. I believe that shows how well they care about thier customers. My experience with NRG Clean Power has been extremely good. I wouldn't go with any other company. The price was the best and the installation was smooth and trouble free. Thank you NRG Clean Power!

I started with the daunting task of exploring whether it makes sense to install solar for my home and in this process spoke to almost a dozen of solar companies out there. But for some reason either the price point seemed too expensive or the reps were not able to instill confidence in me. One of my friends had recommended me to talk to NRG solar. I got in touch with one of the reps there and after the initial proposal, I had many super technical questions. I was connected to their sales director @Andrew Cohen. He was super knowledgeable, technical, very patient and friendly to address all my questions and concerns. He also gave solid advice on how should I approach on evaluating my design. He also gave me the most competitive pricing. I have finally decided to take a plunge into solar with NRG and signed the contract. So far I have had an amazing experience with Andrew and team and I am looking forward to have the same 5 star experience through the entire end to end process of engineering/permitting/installation/PTO (fingers crossed). I will keep you all posted through updates on this review on my entire process experience at every stage hence forth with NRG.

I’m writing to commend the customer service effort that Shelly provided to me as we resolved the repair of my solar system and main electrical panel. Shelly was professional, always quick to respond, had answers to my questions quickly, and walked me through the process every step of the way. I’m thankful that Shelly was assigned to my job, and hopefully she gets the recognition she deserves for doing a wonderful job.

I didn't know there is a local NRG office. I contacted the central online office. The price, installation and speed are second to none. Before I contacted NRG, I got several quotes from large and independent companies and their quotes cant match NRG in price( one had double the price of NRG), knowledges of solar system, completion date, warranty and payment schedules. I purchased 20 REC Alpha Pure-R 420 W panels and Powerwall 3 for a bit over $30k. The installation was done in one day. The whole project was done in 10 weeks. The 3-payment schedule is unthinkable great. I made the second payment after receiving all materials. The panels generate so much juice and I need to add one more Powerwall 3 battery which has built-in inverters. NRG provides an iPhone app with 9 stages. Each stage has a project manager with a large pool of resources. Every person in NRG is more than eager to make customer happy and satisfied. I'm extremely happy and completely satisfied with is solar project. Best of all, I'm almost off the grid and saving hundreds each month.
P.S. An EV is charged daily.

BUYER BEWARE!!! ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY ARE PUSHING HOMEOWNERS TO DO SOLAR IN CALIFORNIA!!!
The sales isnt the issue. It is the installation as well as the switch and bait after you purchase that is the problem with NRG Clean Power. Not even 5 years and we have discovered the installation has compromised our roof. Lavk if adequate sealant with ovrrsized screws to install, miscalculations on measuring so we had extra holes on our roof. When purchased the solar we asked how much it would cost to remove panels and reinstall if we ever needed our roof replaced. We were told during negotiations 800$. We took it as 800$ off and 800$ to put back on! Well I guess since we outright purchased in full and no interest was made off us, we were now told 10,000$.
The electrician used screws that went out over an inch through the roof! We saw he tried to do that to the side of the house and stopped him because we knew they were too long ( guess you need to watcg everything they do bc they just slap anything there way). We provided him with the appropriate screws for the side of the house since he didnt have them. But we apparently he did it to the roof using too long of screws! We had other solar companys tell us that isnt how it is installed and it isnt installed properly! Certain areas required gluing so it wouldn't comprise our roof!!! Instead, they optes for oversized screws!
NRG attempted to say the nails they did see was the cause of our damage. Those were from shingles and protected by shingles, whereas theres went through shingles with no additional seals! They offered to send a roofer out to inspect at our expense. Why pay them when we had three separate roofing companies come give us FREE QUOTES and point out the problems which were due to the solar?! Even our home owners insurance adjustor outright said the solar panels werent installed properly. They initially offered 400$ for the plywood replacement but not for the shingles. The lowest estimate we received for the damages that we do see right now for the repairs we were estimated at 1000$. Approximately 2'x4' was chalked out by one of the roofers stating that area was so compromised someone could fall through the roof.
Our roof has presidential shingles and was installed apparently right before we moved in 17 years ago. We had it inspected before we moved in and were told it was in outstanding shape and in excellent shape. NRG prior to installation, also had it inspected as well, and he too said it was in excellent condition since the presidential roofs should last 50 years.
We asked for their insurance information and they have yet to provide it to us! We are currently looking into the government regulators as well as a civil attorney since Shelley feels like we are a bother!!
WE CLEARLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!!!
