She was outstanding in Explaining all the details of her work performance, she shared how all tests would be performed, what steps of action would be taken to ensure our safety and the time. For the results of the tests. Brittney does outstanding work is very detailed and thorough. She goes above and beyond her work performance to get her job completed. She even took time out to walk the trusses of our roof inside to check for leaks and mold. She was prepared to take action in all areas of tests for Mitigation in mold and water damage. My experience with Rex Environmental was a bit of a mixed bag, but overall, it served its purpose. I recently embarked on a kitchen remodel in my older home. The discovery of old linoleum flooring raised some concerns about asbestos. They were quick to respond and schedule an appointment. Evan, the technician, was friendly and knowledgeable about the process, which put me at ease.

The results took a lot longer than expected, further delaying my project.

Where things took a turn is when the results tested positive for asbestos. The inspector I spoke with reassured me that the risk was minimal since the material wasn't heavily disturbed, and we've been cleaning thoroughly during the renovation but ultimately recommended that any removal be done by a licensed abatement company.

Of course, any level of asbestos exposure carries some risk.

Remember that there are DIY testing kits on Amazon for those out there thinking of getting a test. I could have saved a significant amount of money by going that route, as I did with my radon and lead paint tests. Ultimately, I paid over $600 for testing alone, a huge blow to my budget. I also felt emotionally drained from the whole ordeal.

For informational purposes, they charged a whopping $250 just to get a technician out to your address, and then there were varying degrees of additional funds per sample. It's $30 if you want next-day results, and $20 if you are okay with a wait. Depending on the material tested, they have to take multiple samples. That doesn't include air and dilenation tests which cost significantly more.

To be fair, I called around and their prices were in line with competitors.

An Abatement cost upwards of $5,600 with some companies coming in at close to $10k.

I felt compelled to proceed with the additional point count asbestos testing due to the pressure of being told I would be reported to state officials.

What a racket.

It also took a considerable amount of time to get my reports.

This experience serves as a good reminder to always test before doing any major renovations.

In conclusion, Rex Environmental was efficient and knowledgeable, but I recommend exploring DIY testing options first to save money.
