Energy Smart is honest and extremely knowledgeable. Willy is the BEST and always takes the time to explain everything and in a way I can understand. They've always been quick to service my AC unit, even when they're busy - get this...Willy (one of the Mgrs.) was willing to come out on a Sunday! Who else would do this!? GREAT customer service from the person who books the appt. to the serviceman!

Our AC went out a week ago our home warranty sent Energy Smart the technician was here for over 2 hrs. could not fix the issue @ the unit then he came indoors went up to the attic broke part of the cover and left dirty finger prints all over the ceiling as you can see. My husband has called Energy Smart and left several messages explaining the issue it’s been almost a week, no response. If you’re reading this review please do not use this company they don’t care enough to call back at at least apologize!!!

My home warranty company had them install a new HVAC unit in June. Come time to use my heater and nothing worked. I called and they told me since it was passed 30 days, pay another service fee through my warranty company. Their guy came out (different than the install guys) told me that he could see from the install pictures that they never turned the gas lines on. He got it up and running but it was making a horrible sound every time it kicked on, I asked about it and was ignored. 3 weeks later and it has stopped heating again. When I called I was told I had to resubmit with my home warranty company. After doing that, again, I'm told the soonest they can be out is over a week away. After messing this up 2 times it should be a priority to get it fixed correctly to negate liability. Especially when they've admitted fault before and now I'm having to run space heaters in my house to keep my toddler from freezing. Wouldn't recommend having them install a unit, it's been nothing but a nightmare dealing with them.

Energy smart did a thorough assessment for my AC and were able to find out where the issue was. They were clear with me and explained the scientific parts using easy language. They accommodated my needs and worked around my schedule. They were approachable and quick to respond. I appreciate their work and wish them all the best. At first, he was informative and talked a good game. Charged $450 to replace a dual cap capacitor. He was there for less than an hour and the parts cost is $15. The next day, the AC unit failed again. We are unhappy with the quality of his assessment of the issues and the work he put into fixing them.

Of the two technicians that I spoke to, he was the first to respond to me. I suppose that counts for something.

They may try to gouge you. I have a receipt and an invoice to prove it.

I had them do a lot of work on my house. They did new A/C ducts and a new A/C unit. I paid a lot of money out of pocket plus my home warranty company paid a lot of money to them.

The work was done in the middle of summer 2022. It worked for one full summer in 2023 and then it stopped working in the middle of summer 2024.

They came and inspected my AC and suggested a “hard start kit.” They charged me $400 for it, and they installed it in minutes. I’m attaching a picture of the invoice.

In less than a day, my AC stopped working again. I googled “hard start kit” to see what it does, and I found the exact same one that the AC technician showed me. It costs less than $11! I’m attaching a screenshot.

When the manager came back out, he said I needed a new compressor, which is under warranty because the unit is only 2 years old. He wanted to charge me $3,000 to change the compressor, which was under warranty. He said there was a warranty fee of $200 that the distributor charges. That was a lie, but I’ll get to that later.

Knowing that they up-charged an $11 part to $400, I asked for an itemized estimate. I’m attaching a picture of the estimate.

The estimate showed that they not only wanted to charge me $200 to pay the distributor’s fee (see the line item labeled: “Warrenty agent Cervice”), but they charged me an additional $200 to themselves for no reason whatsoever (see the line item labeled: “Energy Smart Warranty Agent Service”).

Energy Smart also wanted to charge me for two hours of labor at $800 per hour!!! A total of $1,600 in labor for a two hour job (see the line item: “labor”).

Note: At the bottom of the estimate, there is a discount of $400. When the manager was leaving my house, after inspecting my AC, and before sending me the estimate, I caught him taking the hard start kit with him in his hand. He had removed it and said nothing until I asked him about it. I told them I wanted to be credited back for the hard start kit that did not work. That is what the “discount” means in the estimate.

After seeing the estimate, I had someone else do the job. They did it for $1,300. Indeed, there was a warranty fee from the distributor, but it wasn’t $200 like Energy Smart told me, it was $175. And the new contractor did not try to charge me his own fee for the warranty. So, energy smart increased the fee and then tried to double charge me the fee.

See the google review from Nicholas Duong. Energy smart did the same thing to him that they did to me. Notice that Nicholas points out they talk a good game. I fell for it too, which is why I kept dealing with them when I should have known to go elsewhere.

Learn from my mistake. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Call your home warranty company back and ask for another service provider

Willy is my hero! My air conditioning stopped working at around 10 PM which is truly a nightmare in 114 degree heat in Arizona - he messaged me shortly thereafter and came to my house 10 hours later (on a Sunday)! He was so efficient, pleasant, kind, and communicative. He fixed the problem in 20 minutes. He is truly a lifesaver.
