Rapid Response Restoration - These guys are serious troopers!!

We were looking at a home to purchase, and our realtor mentioned an odorless gas-like chemical that quite a few areas in Alaska have, something called "Radon". As a long-time resident of over 35 years, I was surprised that I'd never heard of this. However, thanks to our awesome realtor, who is also a good family friend, we requested a 48-hour Radon test be done along with the home inspection before we moved forward with the purchase.

As someone with ongoing allergies/sensitivies, and immune system issues, I'm 1000 percent thankful that we were schooled on what Radon was, and the health hazard it is when breathed in daily. Since it's one of the main leading causes of lung cancer in people who do not smoke, it was a major concern when the 48-hour test was flirting with that fine line of the average level being over the "safe" threshold.

Our realtor had another client who had Radon levels a lot higher than the house we bought that had recently had a Radon mitigation system installed, and she gave us the contact number for Rapid Response Restoration, who did that install, because without getting this system installed, proceeding forward with buying the house would have been a deal breaker for me.

Ron was my main point of contact, and we were in contact for a few weeks leading up to the scheduled install. Our initial phone call left me with a great impression. Ron was fantastic at explaining things much more in depth regarding Radon, as well as the mitigation systems that they build to suite each individual home, so that optimal results are reached 24/7 365 a year. I had a lot of questions for Ron, and he was patient with me during our lengthy phone call. I learned a lot about the methodology behind how the system functions, and when I learned that they use a thick and high quality vapor barrier to give the ground an airtight seal, allowing the Radon gasses to get sucked directly out of the house where they pipe the unit out, I was sold. After our conversation, I was eager to get the installation done, and they were able to accommodate our awkward schedule as we had to make a couple of adjustments- which they were able to work with.

The guys showed up with a solid crew of 4 or 5 people, and I tell you these guys worked diligently for two long days in our crawlspace, removing all of the old vapor barrier, cleaning the area, installing the heavy duty vapor barrier, and building, piping in, and assembling the Radon mitigation system. They were considerate of the flooring on the main level as they'd be going in and out a lot, so they even had rugs that they rolled out to keep any outside debris that may come in on their shoes to a minimum. For as much time that was involved, and all of the supplies that had to be brought in, I was surprised on how clean my floors were once they had completed the work. They walked me through the system, how it functions, and explained their warranty to me. I was impressed on just how tidy the piping work was, and how clean the crawlspace was, too. I was even provided a Radon detector machine that is wireless with an app, which is on 24/7, and I am so happy to report that my Radon numbers have been so minimal that they are close to undetectable. I monitor the levels daily, and the highest it has ever been since the mitigation system was installed is 0.7!! The majority of each day, it's peak is 0.4. Before the unit was installed, the average number was 3.7 (with a low of 2.1 to a high of 6.7) Any value over 4 is considered a high level, and I understand through the grapevine from our realtor that there is chatter within the CDC to lower the value of 4 down as it still shows to pose a health risk to people at that value. Radon gasses fluctuate, so the numbers can spike higher at any time without a system installed.

I highly recommend this company to anyone who is looking to get a Radon system installed. Worth. Every. Penny. Hands down a great experience. Thank you to everyone at RRR for giving me piece of mind for my health!!

He interrupted his busy schedule for us several times and his team was very respectful, clean, honored the times they said they’d arrive and leave, and communication throughout has been VERY fast and clear.
