I recently completed my 2nd installation (9.9 kW) with Matt and Flatrock Solar. The biggest challenge for the 2nd installation was geometry - my roof peak is not horizontal and there are no square corners. Matt came out a couple of times to make sure we got the layout right. Otherwise the job went off without a hitch, on time and on budget.

The 1st job (8.1 kW) was where I really got to compare Matt to his competition, though. In this case I obtained 3 bids, including 2 of the more well known and respected contractors in town. I had a very complex roof structure that Matt carefully modeled for annual solar exposure, including topography and trees, using data from a GPS tool calibrated to the various roof surfaces available. His resultant design was unique compared to the competition (who did not use this technology) and after some iterations it was clear that Flatrock's design was better. Matt also employs a ladder lift to get the panels onto the roof unassisted, which reduces his overhead and translated into significant savings for me.

Aside from Flatrock's competitive costs and sound technical designs, Matt is a good person and easy to work with and is quite knowledgable about his industry and the various installation options available to a homeowner.

Matt helped me design and install our solar system in 2014. He patiently explained all options and answered questions that was easily understood. We since decided on a remodel in 2020. Matt pulled the panels down when we needed and reinstalled after the new roof line was completed. Very reasonable cost for all his work. Very pleased with the results both initially and the after the remodel. He even let me know once when there appeared to be a failure in the monitoring system. Turns out we had accidentally unplugged the monitor from the internet. Such a pleasure to work with Matt.
