A very nice woman approached me in a parking lot saying they were offering speakers to Ameren customers. I thought they were with Ameren doing some sort of promotion or data collection on customers. I’ve worked for legitimate promotional surveys before, and I thought it was something similar.

Instead she signed me up for IL gas and electric. Although I didn’t feel pressured I felt misled. She was a IL Gas and Electric sales person, not an Ameren representative. She didn’t explain in any detail what switching suppliers would mean and how my rates would change.

When I got the paperwork in the mail I saw IL Gas and Electric is charging a 12.5¢ fixed rate compared to the 7.3¢ rate I already receive. Why would I want my electric bill to double? I’m calling to cancel tomorrow.

It felt predatory. They were doing this in a low-income neighborhood where many people can barely afford to make ends meet as it is.

Per their paperwork and Ameren’s, Ameren would still be my electric supplier, I’d just be going through IL Gas and Electric as a third party “aggregator”. I don’t know why anyone would want to pay more to receive the same product?

The woman who approached me was very nice and clearly had great customer relations and sales skills. Why she is wasting her talent with this scam of a company I’m not quite sure.

Beware person posing as surveyor is switching electric from your supplier to Illinois Gas and Electric. This is the only way they can get business is by tolerating deceptive practices and lying when asked point blank if accounts are being changed.

Somehow they got me signed up which I do not remember. Why am I getting charged for gas, when my home is all electric!!!! My bill is now 4500 because they have triple charged me almost every month. I will be contacting Chanel 4 news asap!!! They scammed me for over 3000 dollars!!!!! I need legal advice!!

My fiancée fell for this scam. They introduced themselves at my door as “ameren” and that they “just needed to make sure we were on their list” by seeing an old bill of ours. I noticed when the lady basically just said “fixed rates” over and over and nothing else that I should be looking up this “fixed rate” myself. She intentionally mislead us into giving her information when she is really with Illinois Gas and Electric. I interrupted them and said she wasn’t really with ameren and she showed off her “ameren badge” and told me to call to confirm the reason of the visit. THIS SITUATION MAY PLAY OUT HOW THEY WANT, ameren will provide a badge to “suppliers” as well, they allow this funky behavior. They probably would answer the phone ffs. DO NOT ANSWER THE DOOR IF YOU SEE THEIR BLUE SHIRTS AND BEANIE. They will double the price of your electric bill!

Random dude came to my door and tried to sign me up.
Said "this isn't a contract, but I'd like you to sign this" and it was a form saying I would agree to a 3 year term for 12.7c/KwH. I only pay 0.06, so yeah. Tried to shake his hand and say thanks for the offer, but it just doesn't make sense to me and cussed me out and berated me for wasting his time. Might be legal here in Illinois, but wouldn't recommend.

Tell me why one of your sales rep is on/near the Loyola campus and telling students they can get free ipod pros if they get their parent’s electric bill and sign them up for this program.

These students don’t pay the bill, aren’t on the bill and have no authority to change the service provider.

Oh, and the iPod pros are fake - cheap versions in a white look-alike Apple box.

What a fraud. Such a scam. Un-enroll me now.

A rep from this company came to my home requesting my gas and light bill information because due to the pandemic I am supposed to get $50 gift cards. It sounded fishy so I called the company. The company was telling me that I was signing up for rates of my gas and light bill. I told the rep several times I am not signing up for anything! Now I have to call the company back to cancel without any fees! I didn't sign up for anything!

Definitely a scam. I was approached outside a grocery store to receive a cheaper electric bill in exchange for a cheap five below speaker. My niece was telling me not to do it and oddly enough people were staring at me and driving by slowly looking. All of that made me not decide to sign up, and after reading these reviews I'm glad I didn't.
