I woke up to my water being off at home. I called thinking a bill wasn’t paid, but there is maintenance being done. I asked for a roundabout estimate as to when the work would be finished and water would be operating again; they couldn’t give me one. They didn’t post that there was a water outage on social media or send any alerts out either. It’s 8am on a Monday morning, and the first day of school.

In order to make a payment arrangement, for a $49.00 ( past due) bill asking that I was going pay the full amount ( old and new bill) in a few days, calling in on Monday (today) for the payment to in by Wednesday. They will not allow emails for payment arrangements. To get an extension for any length of time, they require that a person comes in, in person to sign for a payment extension ledger. And only five extensions a year… I am not thrilled about the five extensions a year, but having to drive up to their office to formalize the payment extension is very burdensome particularly to people that work. Personally, I work one hour away from this location. If you get disconnected, their reconnect fee is almost double of the cost of the bill. I was awarded a one time courtesy after almost 45 minutes of pleading with the staff.

When I asked if emailing as a process is accepted, they said this (aggressive) process has been like this forever. We have just been through a hurricane. This has been designated a emergency area, and the people here have had to incurred additional expenses. I believe the City of Sebring should update their antiquated payment arrangement policies to display a more humane treatment of its constituents, that still have to work for a living. Thank you!

We needed to call the water dept. due to a leak and wanted water to be shut off at the main. Since it was after hours, we reached the answering service. After leaving our info we received a call back from Mike within minutes. After explaining what was happening at our home, he was here within 15 minutes to shut off the water. Even though it was later in the evening, he was very helpful. He noticed, unrelated to our immediate problem, a shut off valve located on the side of the meter (in the box) was missing a handle . He put in a work order to have that taken care of. The crew for that was here first thing this morning and a new handle was installed. Wish we knew their names. We feel that the supervisor of Mike, as well as these other two employees should know they were very professional and pleasant, and the response time was excellent! Thank you and keep up the good work.

Sebring utilities refuses to turn my water on. I have to contact their attorney because they want me to sign a declaration of convenance prior to providing the basic need of running water to my home. The supervisor stated everyone outside of the city limits has to sign this form so they can annex my home if needed. My neighbors have not had to sign this same form. My Non-profit organization cannot grow without running water and Sebring Utilities says there is nothing they can do to resolve my concern.

My bill is 447.85, they never checked the meter and now I’m stuck with the bill. Nobody comes out to do their job everyone just sits behind a computer. Nobody ever called to say my meter stopped or called to tell me about the bill. Kim the so called manager is a complete racist and also rude, a few others that sits at the desk is nasty as well. If I could give them a 0 rating that’s what I would give

Lady who answered the phone about getting the water turned on was smug & condescending. Ask for help since I was out of state and all I got was very short and curt answers. She needs a lesson in customer service!
