Disgraceful and Appalling Service

TECO’s service is an absolute disgrace. Their lack of basic courtesy and accountability is mind-blowing. I missed a bill payment—sure, that happens—but instead of any reasonable attempt to notify me before disconnecting my gas, they send out emails and nothing else. No knock on the door, no call, no real effort. Then, they charge you to reconnect the service they so gleefully cut off.

I paid to reconnect my gas FOUR days ago and have been left waiting endlessly. When I finally called today to understand why nothing had been done, I was told I needed to let them know I wanted my service restored. Are you kidding me? Why would I pay to reconnect if I didn’t want the service back on?

Adding insult to injury, their customer service was rude, dismissive, and utterly unhelpful. They smugly told me there were no technicians available in the Sarasota-Bradenton area and that I’d be left without gas for the entire weekend. My household, with children, now has to endure days without hot water or a working stove because TECO can’t be bothered to have enough staff to serve their customers properly.

This company is appalling, disgusting, and borderline criminal in their handling of such critical services. Their inefficiency and indifference to their customers’ well-being are shameful. If I had even the slightest alternative to TECO, I would take it in a heartbeat. Avoid them if you can—this company is a nightmare.

I wish I had another choice other than TECO. Horrible. Gave the status of “assembling crews” ALL DAY!!! Thanks for wasting a whole day of not working on something. We had power for 10 minutes then y’all split and left us with cops blocking the road for two days. Why are we constantly faced with rate increases when the quality of service remains just as bad as ever Oh, by the way, their holding company is based in Canada. Why exactly are we trusting another COUNTRY with our energy needs?

So they raise the prices AGAIN after a natural disaster. To think they can sleep at night knowing that people are being forced out of their homes trying to keep up with their prices. People with children are being put on the street. And all they have to say is "change your light bulbs and air filter or turn a fan on".

Absolutely ridiculous!!! And a HORRIBLE company!!

TECO Needs to Return to Pior Ways of Servicing Customers

In the past if someone asked me about the quality of service from TECO, I would have said it was excellent. The few times my home has been out of power were quickly resolved.

The service during and after Hurricane Milton showed major flaws in how TECO now handles outages. The updates were few and far between and the communication that TECO would spend two days assessing the situation was poor.

My community was out for five days all due to a tripped breaker which no one had bothered to notice. Thousands of dollars in wasted food which could have been used to help others who had it worse from the hurricane.

Regardless of the self adulation from Archie Collins, the President and CEO of TECO, they need to do a much better job of handling hurricanes.

They did an excellent job trimming trees near the power lines in my area before Helene hit. We lost power after the center of hurricane passed us around 9:30. The power was back on in 3 hours with all the wind and rain at the time. This was amazing and shows their level of preparedness.

TECO will allow their contracted employees to cut your internet lines and leave.

Talking to one of the workers, they assured me no lines needed to be cut for their work.

When they left, we had no internet. Upon investigating their work-site (on MY property) they had cut our internet lines AND LEFT.

These workers are contracted and have zero care for your needs and TECO (even though contracting them) doesn't care either.

If you work remotely, they will cause you a lot of job security problems due to negligence of internet lines.

They tried to cover it up with duct tape to fix a coaxial cable. As a technician myself, its ABSOLUTELY abhorrent that someone thinks that TAPING wires back together will work.

Absolute buffoon mindset from these people.

If I wasn’t forced to use Teco I never would. Power will go out for a rain storm for a day. Barley even a tropical storm this time. No flooding no damage near us. But can’t make it out to us ? Been 2 days no power. Terrible company they won’t even work past 6 pm today from what I was told on the phone. Just trash
