I have been a customer for almost 4 years. I own my own home. I have never had my services disconnected. I made a scheduled payment this past weekend to come out on 12/20, I got a text this morning about being disconnected. I called and spoke with John, John seemed inexperienced which is ok and could not guarantee I would not be disconnected unless a payment was made even though I had a scheduled payment set up for this Friday. I then asked for a supervisor. At this point Kendra came on the line and informed me that yes I could be disconnected even though a scheduled payment was set up with my bank acct info that has been on my account the entire 4 years I have been a customer. During this call she mistakenly me for a man even though I have a female voice and wanted to bring up I have been late on my bill since January of this year. Never disconnected though. She informed me how she pays her bills prior to their due date. The customer service for my call was very poor and Duke energy has no sense of customer service if they are willing to disconnect someone who is only 10 days past the due date with a scheduled payment set up to come directly out of their bank account only days away. She then proceeded to tell me it’s Florida law that they may disconnect even if the past due amount is only one day late. What utility company does that As a homeowner who has never been disconnected and as a consumer who has no other option in a provider this was very very poor customer service and Kendra should go work for a debt collector and not be in the position she is in. A week prior to Christmas as well. Poor customer service Duke Energy, do better especially for your customers who have NEVER been disconnected.

Duke sent someone out to repair something that was done incorrectly when my home was built. Cut my internet cable and left without even a knock or confirmation our power was back. Sent someone out 2 days later and the rep told us that it’s not his problem, we should have a backup plan, and to pound sand (I’ll save you his actual language) then proceeded to lie about his name and driving a company vehicle (which we confirmed he was as he walked around the other side of his house to get into his Duke energy truck)

Now I’m without internet for 2 weeks because frontier cannot come out to fix the wire that Duke cut because they were rushing and careless!

This company needs to be investigated. They started disconnecting me starting on the middle of 2024 I have been a customer for the past 5 years and now you can't be late 10 days before disconnecting you. Also I received a new bill asking me to give them $130 refundable deposit at the end of 2025 so they say because I was disconnected on November. I had never been disconnected before and it kept happening almost every month if I was late few days. At this point selling the house and moving away from their service area is looking closer. I told them I am not paying that deposit as I know I won't ever see it because they will come up with some excuses. Disconnect me if you want. I won't be paying that deposit. There is alternative energy and I already have solar, for few bucks I can have batteries installed.

Terrible service. I mean no sevice. Phone call takes me to a prompt which after a long long hold. Ai says how can help. I say speak with an associate. Then the Ai give me four optons none that apply, then it offgers more (3) options none are helpfull so I ask to speak to a representative. No response Then Ai says anything else!S o I ask for help, finally then it puts me another long hold. Finally I get a women who says how may I help. I say I'm calling to ask why my electric bill is so high. She says she cant answer that but she'll transfer me to a technical rep. expert I get transferred into anothe long hold. After this long wait. I get a mans voice that says, please hold for the next available agent! Discusting!!! and discusted i hang up. You'd think that for the rediculous price I'm paying to a company DUKE, who has the monolopy in our area and making billions of dollars. They'd hire some damm people and create some jobs and provide some real live customer service !



Recently had a street light out in front of the house. Making it pitch black as soon as the sun went down at 6 lol and making it creepy to go to work in the morning while it’s still dark out. I was able to go on Duke Energy website and report a streetlight being out and within two weeks they did in fact fix the light and then send me an email that they fixed the light. I am genuinely surprised how easy that was I was expecting to have to make 15 phone calls and then eventually give up and wait for them to do it two years down the road lol. They get 3 Stars because they are still Duke energy, and I am tired of all of the random surcharges. Making my bill ridiculous for how little I use.

I set up budget billing, but it was never turned on for my account. So then my $100 power bill goes to $200. They finally set up budget billing, and then immediately raise that price too, from $100 to $150. Just greedy for no reason. Then on top of that, they let my landlord take over my utilities a month before my lease ended, shutting off my power right before Christmas. These people have absolutely no regard for their customers. And they do not have their ish together.

I am realizing that Duke Electric is located in various areas of Florida. I live in New Port Richey. I would love for the owners of this company to come to River Oaks Ct and see the horrible pieces of equipment that is on our property and put it in front of their picture windows!!!!! Not only are they horrible, but in addition, my (our) electric bills have skyrocketed! could it be because of greed? Many of my neighbors are looking to move into areas that are not Duke Electric areas...as so am I. As I told a Duke Rep, in all my years of being on this earth and living in different parts of this country, have I never called a utility company to complain! DUKE ELECTRIC is the first!!! Buy the way, several months ago I had a brand-new HVAC installed! So, it is not the system...it is the fact that Duke Electric sucks!

Duke Energy sends people to replace my power pole that is only 4 years old, I know this because they charged me for a new power pole and a transformer when I built my house. Their contractors are traipsing through my yard more than 10 feet past the easement, walking around my boat, and they all seem to think this is just hilarious.
Called the customer service number, they had no idea who was even replacing their pole then after being transferred 4 times, they just hung up on me.

Go up
