We were return customers after a fantastic experience several years ago.

This time we were purchasing FOREST ROUGE BLACKHAW VIBURNUM trees.

Once again, we were very happy with Hinsdale Nurseries.

Matt Fiala helped us. I have never met a person who seemed to have as much genuine joy and appreciation for trees and landscaping. His eyes lit up when he was showing us various options. He was very excited at our choice and even more excited when he came to look at our yard to help us decide on the best number to buy.

His enthusiasm rubbed off making us equally excited and confident in our purchase.

In addition, Matt was such a kind, helpful, and knowledgeable person. He patiently answered all of our questions and helped us make a great choice.

The installation crew was equally fantastic. Their attention to detail and care in planting the trees were amazing. They had to weave around some underground cables. But they navigated them and got the trees in exactly where we wanted them. They also were neat and cleaned up the area including mulch that dropped off their truck and onto the street in front of our house (they put mulch around the trees after planting).

All told, our experience with Hinsdale Nurseries was excellent. We are already planning our next tree purchase.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! ZERO STARS- I went in Friday picked out 2 trees and tagged them - as instructed by the salesperson. The following day, our landscapers went in to pick up the trees. The wrong tree was loaded on their trailer. We went back to the yard to ask what happened and the older blond lady at the sales counter was rude and loud talking over me stating the trees that were loaded onto the truck were ones we purchased when we both were standing in front the tagged tree left behind in the yard. She then said if I wanted that tree ( the one I tagged and was left behind) I had to purchase it. A few minutes later, my landscapers arrived to speak with this lady and she then told them this tree was not available. Another sales guy came out of the office and said they could not do anything as the owner was on vacation.
Unbelievable. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS. I should have read the previous reviews as it looks like I'm not the only one who has encountered this rude lady....... never shop here again..

Carolann was very helpful to us. We wanted to donate two maple trees to a site that was hit by the tornado last June. She got us the best pricing available and the trees are the perfect size. I can't wait to see them in the spring and summer. The nursery is nice and clean and loading was quick and efficient. Highly recommend!

Great selection and overall very helpful staff. One woman in particular with short blond hair bouncing on a yoga ball was very rude. Would recommend avoiding her for a better experience. We have a landscaping company doing work for our home. That company has always been provided with exceptional service when shopping here for jobs, aside from now having come across this woman who was very rude and loud to our family, our landscapers and other guests in the area.

I ordered 2 yards of top soil to be delivered, which was supposed to be screened however upon delivery, much of the dirt had marble and golf ball size dirt which could not be used for my project resulting in about 4 wheel barrels that had to be dumped. I thought the bulk would be cheaper than getting bags. Price and service was good , quality needs improvement.

Pros:
- Great selection of plants, trees, and flowers.
- Great location and easy to get in and get out of.

Cons:
1) Literally the snobbiest employees I have ever met! I had been working out in the yard earlier that day and was pretty dirty. My wife and I went to look for additional trees to plant in the yard. We spoke to an older lady(she may have been the owner, not sure) and Wow! she was something!
At first she did not want to be bothered when we were asking for support in narrowing down our selection (mind you, we planned on buying 4 trees which was going to be like $8k) and this lady was so beside herself that she had to wait on my wife and I. Additional note: My wife and I walked around beforehand so we had already narrowed out list down. We just needed some advice from and supposed "expert".
Anyway, She finally walked into the building and she started quoting these outrageous prices to buy and plant the trees. It was obvious she assumed we were poor and would walk away.
Then, I started describing the trees that I currently have in my yard so she could help us in our choices and she called my trees "trash"! lmao. You could not have made up this story. I actually left thinking "Wow - these people still exist in the wild."
2) I am honestly not sure if the prices this lady was quoting were real, or if she was jsut trying to run us off but she was quoting over $1,200 just to plant one tree! Literally dig a hole in the ground and put the tree in! loll. So, they were going to charge us $5,000 dollars to dig 4 holes (not including the trees!).

Overall

Note to the lady. I recognize you have a nursery in an affluent area, but you sell trees and plants lady. Get over yourself.

It's amazing how similar so many of the other posts are to mine. I have zero doubt that other customers have faced racism, bigotry, and flat-out disgraceful behavior at this place.

I’ve shopped at Hinsdale Nurseries for several years because of their variety and quality. I’ve always paid a lot more than competitors mostly because of their quality. On a recent visit I noted very little quality items in stock but the prices were still very high. When I went to check out I was amazed when they wanted to add a 3.5% credit card fee. I put everything back and made no purchase despite an hour round trip. I won’t be back.

Place is laid out beautifully and very helpful for someone who knows nothing about gardening.
I had called to get two trees from them, with delivery, a year ago and service was great!
I went back to get another tree. I asked if they had any of the ones I bought last year and they said they did. He pointed to somewhere far away and to the right. Would have been nice if someone could have shown me where to look, not just told me. So I went where he pointed and then I came back to confirm that I had found the same tree bc the name that I know it by was not what was written on the tag. I was told it was and was asked if I needed to buy it and needed it installed by them. I said I would buy it but my landscaper,who was with me but getting the other multitude of various plants that I needed, could install it. I was told that this is the retail tent and that my landscaper should be answering my questions. Not sure why a worker at the nursery can't answer questions or why I got such an attitude/ response. Also, I don't understand why he would think I didn't ask my landscaper. I did ask my landscaper and he did say it is the same tree, however, before dropping several hundred dollars I wanted to confirm with someone else, as someone who knows nothing about it all. The whole situation was just unnecessary and uncomfortable.

The lady that I spoke to over the phone last year was a lot nicer and very happy to help.
