Herrin Hospital is a very nice small hospital. Our son has had three kidney surgeries (two outpatient and one inpatient) performed here. During each of his surgeries, we were treated with kindness and courtesy and kept apprised of what was going on during and after his surgical procedure. Dr. Don Arnold is an excellent urologic surgeon and the community of Herrin is blessed to have him. We live in the St. Louis area but were happy to make the two hour drive each time because we knew our son was getting the best possible care for his rare kidney condition--much better than one would get at any hospital in St. Louis.

My dad is currently in the PCU of this joke of a hospital and I can clearly tell something more needs to be done for him he has a majority of the signs of someone that is not getting enough oxygen to there brain. And this morning when I took some meds to him they asked for he did not look well at all and this is after them calling last night to mom to say she may need make the choice to incubate him if not better with bipap overnight and there being Noone at the nurses desk to help us. And this is not the first time experiencing poor care just few weeks ago he was in er by ambulance for chest pain of 9.5 and they set him in front of the door in a wheelchair luckily mom and I came and we left with him to take him to the VA hospital in marion as dad is a veteran and he got much better care there. We are hoping we can some how transverse him this time to VA. And I have ben there with mom and they had her in the wating room and just told her news to us right there no privacy at all. How in the wolf have they not been shut down.

Great people. Real nice didn't seem like anybody was bringing their personal baggage to work with them. I just had surgery here too. Everything went smooth they got surgeons who go back n forth to st.louis. So they're well rounded surgeons. Nursing staff are the sweetest and try their best to make you comfortable and keep you out of pain and suffering. I stayed 3 nights now I'm going to head home in a few. Not one person made me feel like a burden. everything was awesome and now I'm healing up nicely

It's hard to do a "good" review of a hospital because no matter what, even if it's an elective or routine thing, you probably don't want to be there. Both my wife and I have had procedures at Herrin Hospital, and in both cases, I think the doctors and the many and varied support staff involved in the experience did an excellent job. While a good doctor can do a procedure correctly and, oh, I don't know, make sure your liver isn't accidentally removed or something, you're going to probably be dealing with the CNAs and Patient Care Techs, Dietary people, Lab Staff, custodial professionals, clerical assistants and most of all, nurses, a lot more than you will be doctors, and that's what makes me give this place a high rating. The nurses and everyone on the non-doctor end of things are great, professional, friendly, and most of all, they make what could be an unpleasant experience into a much more bearable one.

My husband and I had x-rays done at Herrin Hospital on 9/28/2024 but as of 10/12/2024, neither has been read. Not having been notified of the results through SIH MyChart a week later, I called and was dismayed to find out that “they are 2 weeks behind” yet it has now been 15 days. This is NOT acceptable. This is awful healthcare and therefore, Herrin Hospital gets 0 and does not deserve even 1 star. However, since Google would not allow this to be sent unless at least 1 star is marked, I am sending this as is with the above disclaimer that “1” should actually be “0”.

Thank you SIH. Because of you my quality of life has deteriorated significantly in the 2 months that you have delayed my care. And now you wish to do it again. My quality of life will continue to deteriorate rapidly if I rely on your help much longer. So shout out to SIH or Southern Illinois Healthcare. I'm glad you delay people until they die from your negligence or become homeless.

I've had nothing but the best experience here. Coming here for blood works, weight loss surgery, check ups - I adore everyone I've come to speak with. Staff, reception, weight loss team- absolutely beautiful people. I've been helped tremendously. I know everyone has their own experience, but if I could boost their rating way higher than it is, I would in a heartbeat.

Went to ER requested by my Dr when my blood work came back from that morning. Arrived at little after 3pm , and the waiting room was full, no place to sit and being in pain was hard to stand but I believe that the elderly and parents of small children should sit first. So around 530 all my labs and blood work was done, at 730 ish I finally had enough and went to ask I could take some pain meds? because nobody comes to check on anyone in the waiting room!! You have real patience sitting in there for hrs and a lot of them don't have a phone to see their stuff on my chart, real interaction goes a long way!!! So she went to ask and finally took me to a room 8:10. I must say the nurse was amazing and I will find out her name. She worked so hard making sure all 3 of her patients in the same room was comfortable. The Dr never addressed any of my results that was abnormal, heck he was going to start the process all over if I didn't tell him they was done hrs ago!! So at 1030 ish he come to say everything looks good, gave me meds for IBS that absolutely had nothing to do with why I was there. I was flabbergasted and ready to run from that hospital!! I have been going to this hospital for 40 plus yrs and I have no words that describe what a train wreck it was!! I'm just glad Urgent Care is here to take care of us !!! I recommend that somebody gets out of that chair and actually looks at what's going on in this healthcare system at this hospital.
