When first moved here service was great! But upgrades and services were done to Mansfield and surrounding stations which has made power outages a constant threat for our area east of the lake during 4 day outage we were last to be fixed but only took REMC 1 trk with 1 man 30 minutes to get our power back on why did we have to wait 4 days for a 30 minute job others were up and running around us but we dead last to get power back on used to be great now THEY SUCK!!!

The amount of money that is paid towards “our” electricity is the most we have paid at any electric company. The monthly bill always finds a way to increase even when we are trying to be cautious and conserve. There are months it seems like it’s off more than it is on. It is constantly tripping off and on, always for hours or DAYS to get it back on again. I have a young son with a heart condition, along with an older child, and pets, and there have more times that I have had to move around my schedule or find somewhere to go in order to take care of them. I have had to reschedule important zoom appointments and calls because the electricity is out, but I have a mother that lives a few minutes away and never has this issue. I pay well over 300$ a month, it has been over 600$ some months, that is a hefty bill for a service that seems to be off more than it’s on. I am in a constant panic if the wind is blowing too hard that my electricity might turn off, and this morning it is quiet with no storms, but yet here I sir with no power at the end of June when it’s 80• outside!

I simply don't understand how this utility company could ever rate 5 stars. You folks must have money and influence to get your power back on so quickly. If I could, I would give them a negative rating. We're into our fourth day with no power, in 90 degree heat. We're spending $60/day for gasoline to put into the generator. Thankfully my husband was smart enough to not trust them ever again and bought a decent size generator to keep the fridge, toilet, and ceiling fans going. Guess we need to spend another couple of thousands to buy another generator to run the A/C and take a hot shower. And on top of that, I'm confident that we will still have a hefty bill to pay. I'm sure the board of directors have power but the poor white trash of western Putnam County can just sit and bake, and spend, and spend, and spend.

5 days without power as of July 4th. I feel for the elderly, those with medical conditions, and farmers who can't get water to their livestock. Parke County REMC is the worst. If you plan to move to western Putnam county, my advice is DON'T!!!! Unless you can afford the very best generator in the world. You can't speak to a human being. Their automated phone system is a joke. You will receive a call stating they are pleased to announce service to your home is completed and an hour later a call will come in stating they are aware of the power outage in your area, with no ETA of when it will be back on. Confusing? That's what is intended. However, I guess going without a shower, a hot meal, no air conditioning, and no toilets is excellent preparation for the Socialists green new deal President Biden is attempting to force down our throats. Wake up America and happy birthday.

If you are going to use Parke County REMC, buy a generator....a big one...because you will need it...a lot.
This year alone (as of June 2019) we have lost power a minimum of 12 times. I'm not counting the ones where I come home from work and my clocks are flashing. I'm just counting the ones where we went out for HOURS when we were home.

The last outage I asked the rep if we got some kind of "credit" for the constant power outages.
His reply was "well Mr Harman, we don't charge you for service when the power is out"

Damn decent of you....damn decent..

When power goes out in extreme weather, Parke County REMC restores quickly...even when severe weather is still going on! I have had several electric companies through the years and can tell you I have never had an electric company restore service so quickly. Thank you so much to the ones out there in this weather restoring our power!
