I recently stayed at the motel, and although the property is undergoing renovations, I was pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. The staff were friendly & helpful.

Despite the work being done, the room I stayed in was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. It was clear that the management is committed to improving the motel, and the renovations are sure to make it even better. The noise from the construction was minimal, and it didn’t interfere with my stay at all.

I’m excited to see how the place turns out once all the renovations are complete, but even now, it’s a great value for the price. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

I had a very enjoyable stay at this motel, even while it was undergoing remodeling. The staff was friendly and accommodating, ensuring that the renovations didn’t disrupt my experience. My room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The improvements being made show a commitment to enhancing the property, and I look forward to seeing the finished results. Overall, a great stay, and I would definitely return!

This hotel gets zero stars. Among the very, very worst hotel stays I've ever had. All the amenities of the hotel are under construction. 3rd floor not accessible due to construction. Furniture outside left in the rain. Couches, tables, mattresses, you name it. Dumpster on the side of the building was awful. Trash everywhere!!! This made the hotel look like an absolute dump. Pool area was also filled with furniture. Hotel room was okay but cramped. Bathroom design was awful as shower floor leaked everywhere. The carpet was stained, the noise from the hallway and from the construction above us and right down the hall was excessive (we could hear the floors being torn up and I’m still recovering from the migraine I had from the sound of tiles being broken). The bathrooms were seriously lacking in quality: the bathtub didn't drain well, the fixtures were clogged, and toilet cover was barely hanging on. The refrigerator liked and wasn’t working properly and when I told the front desk the only thing I was told was maintenance will check it out tomorrow which I never heard back. hallway doors left open in the middle of winter which made the entire hotel uncomfortably cold. Nothing about this hotel works -- NOT A THING including ALL the main level public facilities. No breakfast for 2 weeks. Pool has been closed for months. BUSINESS OWNER NOT VERY PROFESSIONAL.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL

This hotel deserves 0 stars. 1 year prior to our stay I spoke with management and reserved 25 rooms on a hotel wedding block. Throughout the year, my wedding guest struggled with making reservations and had to make numerous calls to receive a confirmation numbers.

2 days prior to our wedding, my guests began receiving phone calls that they had to stay at another location due to reconstruction. After more than 4 hours of back and forth with management we were told that everything was okay and that everyone would have a room. The day of the rehearsal they began turning family members away stating they did not have a reservation.

After more discussions they claimed they could make it right and began giving keys to guests.

On Saturday, when the bride and groom went to get the honeymoon suite, we were told that room was not available. They placed us on the 3rd floor that was completely under construction. No flooring, overwhelming smells, no curtains, and limited furniture. The room key they gave us did not work. Another member of the party had a room key that didn't work, also. The front desk provided them with a master key that unlocked all rooms in the entire hotel. Luckily they were in our party and we were able to get into our room since the front desk did not care if the bride and groom made it to their room.

They charged us the same price for the hotel room as they did for the honeymoon suite and would not refund us.

I learned the next day that my grandparents were turned away and had to stay somewhere else, after the wedding shuttle bus dropped them off.

Shame on all of them. Shame on them for saying people didn't have reservations when rooms had been paid for.

With the late notice we were unable to find an alternate location with the party bus and all our guests.

We have stayed at this hotel many times. We live near O’Hare Airport and come down to visit family. We have always been happy with this hotel. It had always been clean and well kept. Staff has always been great. It is good to see the remodeling being done as it was a little dated. This trip we did have a small issue with the room as a result of the remodel. The manager was right on it and solved it. I believe the sign of good service is not just when all is well it’s how you handle it when something goes wrong. They did a superb job in handling. I have not challenge staying there in the future.

Stayed here one night for a wedding. Would recommend to all to just avoid staying here in general and do the extra drive to a different hotel. I found ants in the bathroom and read other reviews about bed bugs and was terrified. Breakfast was sparce, no hot foods. Staff were friendly enough but the entire place is under renovation and there is dust everywhere. They need to just stop business and finish renovations and then reopen, in it's current state they are taking money for a subpar experience. Also I booked at a wedding block rate and they charged me the full rate when I checked out. I'm not going to argue on $10, I just wanted to leave.

Edit: management has contacted me and refunded the wedding block rate $20. I responded that the refund is appreciated so I'll give 4 stars for service but I stand by the rest of my review.

Excellent hotel with very clean rooms & accommodating staff. I love their breakfast varieties. We appreciate the care and hospitality they provided us with smile. Will gladly stay here again in the future. PS: Hotel is getting better and better each day!

We stay at this hotel once a month and most of the visits are fine. Last visit the room rate of $150 was a little high when they had open capacity. Offer no travel agent or rewards program for frequent customers. On an earlier stay, we tried to bring our dog, had it marked on reservation and they argued that I did not until I provided a copy of my confirmation. They tried to charge us $150 pet deposit fee plus $25/night and we were staying 3 night. Fortunately we have relatives in town so we took our furbaby to their house. I believe they have since changed the pet rates but was extremely disappointed that they would charge more for a pet fee than the room itself. I totally agree with a fee but they need to be reasonable as anyone who travels with their pet can tell you they are a part of your family. If this was a brand new hotel in top knotch condition, I would have gladly paid the fee but this hotel is not new or in great condition. Highland is a great community with a lot of unique restaurants, parks and community activities.
