I am very dissatisfied with Insight Environmental. They treated me poorly and unprofessionally.
In August 2025, our home experienced a significant plumbing leak at the hallway bathroom in the middle of the house. The leak detection company we hired to locate the leak per the plumber’s request told us that because the home is in Los Angeles County, asbestos testing is required before they could cut into drywall, or they would incur a $25,000 fine. They recommended Insight Environmental. Insight took several drywall samples, including a sample from the front door area which was more than 25 feet away from the leak area where drywall would be cut. The asbestos test results were negative except for the one sample from the front door area which was positive. Therefore, we were deemed to have failed the asbestos test, and would be required to use a remediation company at a significant expense to make the drywall cuts.
I asked Insight why they took a sample more than 25 feet away from the leak area where drywall would be cut. They said they were “following procedure.” I insisted that they perform a re-test in the area where drywall would be cut. They performed the re-test at their expense and the test was negative which meant that no asbestos was detected in the plumbing repair area where drywall would be cut and the leak detection procedure including drywall cutting could be performed.
The re-test delayed the start date for the leak detection company to locate the leak which further delayed the plumber to schedule the work to repair the leak.
I emailed the Insight manager to request a further explanation of their procedures to understand why they took a sample from more than 25 feet away from the plumbing repair area. I asked for the name of the LA County law so I could read the details. The manager never responded. I left voice mail messages. I called the office assistant and asked her to prompt him to reply, and she promised to do so. I emailed my letter to the office assistant. After not receiving a reply during the next four weeks, I emailed the office manager with copies of my previous emails requesting a reply. I never received a reply.
After 90 days of attempting to elicit a reply from Insight and never receiving a reply, today I called the office and asked to speak with the office manager. While I was explaining my request, the office person interrupted me to tell me I need to take this up with the company owner and she hung up on me. I immediately called back to ask for the name and contact information for the owner. The office manager answered the phone and spoke rudely to me, telling me she would not deal with my situation.
