Highly disappointed with the fact that you can’t dump at any normal business hours of the week. They used to provide this service to the public. When we tried to dump on a Thursday we were denied service and we were the only ones there. It’s not like they are too busy to process the little we had to dump. Now we had to bag up a lot of our stuff and just slowly get rid of it through normal waste pickup service.

Because of our limited time in Juneau we can’t make the Saturday hours work for us. Last year this same thing happened to us on a short trip to Juneau to get rid of construction waste from my father’s place. So we ended up ordering a drop box service which took months to receive on site and then asked a friend who lived in Juneau to load up the box and ask it to be picked up.

Bottom line is WM has put in place a new policy that really doesn’t serve the community well. And to that scale lady that didn’t serve us - you need to learn to be a bit more courteous and well mannered and understanding of the frustration that this problem causes.

I'm just curious as to why the public should only have 4 hours in an entire week to dump...This appears to be the reason for the 1 star reviews....

I bet this causes a lot of dumpster poaching and litter...just seems to be the natural course of events when you make it this difficult to dump trash.

Having only 4 hours a week (saturdays from 8am to noon) for non commercial availability to dump is pretty terrible. Stopped by earlier in the week to try and there wasn’t anyone else in line. Today it’s backed up onto the main road past the fuel station. How about some other hours during the week?

No disposal on weekdays without a business account. The line of cars on weekends stretches to the highway and they close @ noon without letting all the cars in. 140$ a vehicle no matter how much garbage.

The city needs to eminent domain these corp’s and return the dump back to the
people.

They require all folks to sign legal papers to dump, regardless business or personal. Go to their office for the phone number to get the forms.

Having only 4 hours a week for public waste disposal is a terrible business decision. With cars backed up along the main road (outside of the access) it’s become a safety hazard for other traffic in the area. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a lawsuit in the news at this point.

It's the dump, so nothing glamorous but really important. Be sure to use the right lane for dumping trash, left lane to go around the office to drop off recycling in the new building. Watch the red and green lights to approach the scale. Pickup trucks are a flat rate, trailers will weigh in and out. The road up to the dumping site is muddy and full of pot holes. Take it slow. Be ready for eagles and bottle rockets on top. The workers light them off. For that reason, my kids love going to the dump! 🙂

At 3:55 I drove through the open gate to recycle scrap metal and aluminum cans. The sign said recycling open until 4:30. There is a large scrap metal pile just as you drive into the recycling area, so I pulled into it and started to offload my scrap. An employee came out of the building and shouted across the yard, "We're closed! Get outta here!!!!"

I asked him if that's how he greets all their customers, gave him my "warmest regards" and left. Monopolistic utilities apparently don't require good customer relations.
