This is a long overdue review. I'd been dealing with a terrible housing situation and Grant has helped me so much by patiently answering my questions and calling me when a more complex explanation is needed. Since I first hired his company, I've had several other environmental inspectors in my apartment and none of them even came close to Maypole in their professionalism, commitment to the rules and laws meant to protect people's health, and overall integrity. It's also a plus that they don't have their own remediation service as that would be a conflict of interest - something some other companies unfortunately have. I think that's important to keep in mind when looking for a truly neutral inspection company. I'd like to thank the inspector Armando as well. Like Grant, he was kind and patient. I wish Maypole all the success because they deserve it!

After difficultly finding a competent environmental engineering firm I was lucky to find Maypole Environmental Services.
Grant Hartzell (head of compliance) and his team are extremely knowledgeable, intelligent and hard working. Grant went out of his way on multiple occasions to help answer and formulate the right plan in finding noxious gases that were coming in through my kitchen and bathroom vents.
They also established there was extreme negative atmospheric pressure in my kitchen due to building HVAC inefficiencies and oxygen depleting compounds coming from my kitchen vents. The level of expertise is incomparable to any other company and I highly recommend them for any of your indoor quality air needs.
It’s important to note other IAQ professionals I hired previously could not find the culprit to why my wife and I had extreme migraines and naseau inside our apartment.
The testing from Maypole was so comprehensive and efficient.
We also want to mention Grant took his time to explain our toxicology results in laymen’s terms so we had a full understanding of what we were dealing with.
Grant and his team literally saved our lives and we will be forever grateful.

I cannot say enough good things about Maypole Inspections. The customer service is top notch and I would give them 6 stars if I could. When I was pregnant and moving apartments in NYC, I was nervous about lead paint, air quality and making sure that our new apartment was safe and up to code for our newborn baby. I contacted a few companies to see if they could check our apartment to make sure it was safe.

When I contacted Maypole I knew right away they were the company I would go with. Maypole is a woman owned company, which is important to me. However, the reason I ended up going with this company was because of Grant. I spoke to Grant and he was friendly, personable and very knowledgeable. He answered all of my questions and we made a plan for him to visit the apartment we were considering renting. Grant arrived at the building to do the inspection at the scheduled time. He was extremely thorough. After his inspection, he called me and explained his findings. He answered all of my questions and was extremely patient, even when I asked him the same questions over and over 😉 Very quickly after his inspection he emailed us a full written report. It was extremely detailed, but also reader friendly for someone who doesn’t fully understand lead paint/environmental hazards.

Since the inspection, Grant has been available for questions I have had (not even pertaining to the original inspection). He is my go to guy for questions about paint, lead hazards, indoor safety for my baby, and indoor and outdoor air quality. As a mom I want to do what is best for my baby and my family and I can say that Grant has been amazing in helping me feel less anxious and at the same time educating me on environmental hazards as they come up in everyday life. From my dealings with Grant over the past year I can say that this is a company that truly cares about its clients. It is not the type of company that does an inspection and then never responds to an email again. Grant is always available for questions and he really knows his stuff. He gets back to me very quickly when I email him and is available over the phone. If you are considering hiring Maypole for an inspection of your home I would say do not hesitate, it is worth every penny and more.

It was very satisfying to work with Maypole. I called them with concerns that my home might have lead and asbestos due to how old it was. In no time they came in and inspected and cleared my mind of all worries.. I have 3 grandchildren who visit often. They were happy to report NO lead or asbestos found. Highly recommend.
