Great people -- and great web site. I see lots of reviews warning about things that are clearly laid out on the web. It's probably a better experience for everyone if you know what to expect before you arrive.

This is a City of Houston facility, funded by our tax dollars, so they won't take your materials if you can't prove residence. The rules are different from the Westpark Recycling Center because the purpose is different. The emphasis here is reducing toxins in landfills. The one thing we missed reading is that you can only drop off once in 30 days. We'll plan ahead for next month to finish cleaning out the garage!

Don't waste your time going here. Even if you have a water bill of residence in the valid area, you need a matching drivers license and that person to be present, as well, not to mention catch them on their few hours of operation a month there's likely to be a number of other "issues" preventing them from accepting the waste. So if you, like me, planned on cleaning out your dead grandpas estate of his old chemicals and paints, you should "go to the one closer to where you live" and not the one closer to where the chemicals actually are apparently. There is no mention of drivers license requirement on the website, absolutely unhelpful and rude staff, with contradictory statements and a dismissive attitude. It's insane the hoops you have to jump through to properly dispose of hazardous waste when it should be the easiest process in the world to keep people from just throwing it in a landfill. Even if someone is from Wisconsin or France, who cares, if they have hazardous waste I don't want that in landfills or in the water table.

This location is for people who live inside the city of Houston limits only. And they were great about taking all types of paint. They only take 25 gallons at a time tho. It doesn’t matter how much is in the can. So consolidate your paint into full cans.

Website says nothing about Houston residents only and is listed under Harris County recycling facility. I tried to call to confirm we could drop off old paint and they have nobody answering the phone. We drove from humble and they wouldn’t accept our items. Typical government inefficiently.

Seriously couldn't be any easier. Clearing out a house with 20 years' accumulation of camping fuel, paint cans, aerosols, solvents and so forth. The website states clearly what they will accept..which is long list of stuff that shouldn't go into the normal trash bins!
Drive up, top the trunk, and everything is removed, and sorted. The car was absolutely loaded with two decades' worth of items, and we were sorted and out of there in seven minutes tops.
Absolute hats off to the city and its staff there. This is public services par excellence, at no extra cost to city residents, I should add.

Be prepared. Don't be surprised if they bark at you to stay in your car if you try to get out to see what they take or won't take. You can't see what they're doing in your trunk otherwise so I wouldn't leave anything of value back there. They wouldn't take an old plotter since it's considered a business item so it was mostly a wasted trip. I feel like the city makes it difficult to get rid of things properly.

I was there less than 10 mins. The gentlemen immediately took care of my 6 buckets of old paint. Didn’t have to get off the car.

I took paint to this facility a few months ago. Nice people, quick unloading, great experience.

I went today with about 12 cans of paint. They said stay in car and we'll unload. I did. They said OK you can go. I got home and found 7 cans of paint they did not take. 5 of them were oil base paint which I found out that this facility did not take, BUT WOULD IT BE TOO MUCH TO ASK THAT SOMEONE COME UP TO THE WINDOW and say "Sir, you have some oil based paint back here which we cannot take. We took all we could." But no the SOBs just acted like they took care of everything. Who trains these people? No one apparently.
