Talked to multiple people while setting up my account last week and was told by multiple people I would be on the schedule for Monday. I was totally out of fuel because another fuel company gave me the run around for 2 weeks so I was switching, hoping Fred’s would be different… they were not.
They did not come when they said they would. When I called to inquire they told me they could send someone tomorrow for 200 and then told me it would be another 137 for a relight fee because I am out. I told them my family works for a fuel oil company and I’ve bled and reset the light before so they don’t have to do that. They tried to argue with me that I couldn’t do it myself and had to pay the 137. I called around and got a better (and cheaper per gal) company same day and cancelled. If I could give 0 stars I would. They should be embarrassed since this seems to be a recurring theme in the reviews….

These people are CROOKS. They Came to do a pressure test and fill 100 galon tank $500. Ok. However they left behind a major gas leak in my house.

When i called to tell them what was happening they dispatched someone to fix it right away which i thought was great!! Until the next day i saw that they took $1000 out of my account for the "emegency service" what?!? You caused this emergency!! (Zero mention of any charge on the phoncall btw. They sounded apologetic and just sent someone)
I called to dispute this and luckily my bank stopped the criminal unauthorized withdrawl from my account....so to retaliate they came and took back the tank with the 500 worth of gas i just paid for. Use Bourne energy or literally anyone else. These crooks will screw you over.

Absolutely the worst place to get service in lamoille county. Was told they were going to deliver fuel 2 days ago and now I won’t be getting fuel for another 6 days. I will have run out by then and they recommended doing an “emergency” delivery for an extra 200. Why don’t you guys just show up when you say you are going to so I don’t have to pay extra money? Take your business elsewhere if you can.

Called up and got a price on fuel oil for 375 a gallon and then when they delivered it, it was four dollars a gallon
So they took a $50 bill out of my wallet

Terrible customer service. This is the second time they have called us and notified us of a delinquent amount due on our account that we had no idea about. They have neglected to leave a notice on our door letting us know that they filled our tank and how much we owe. They never sent us any invoice in the mail. They never emailed us any bill. The woman then proceeded to tell my husband that I was going to be the reason he ended up on a “COD list” and that it wouldn’t look good for him. We had no idea they had even come and they have continued to put finance charges on our account for an amount we did not know we owed.

While I had a company that was worse than Fred's, I have several complaints about Fred's:
1. For service they automatically charge 1.5 hours regardless of time spent. If you have more than one thing done at your location they bill separately so they can get 1.5 hours for each unit serviced.
2. My gas line from the tank to the house failed after only 4 years and I had to dig up my property and replace the whole thing at a HUGE cost.
3. Most importantly - the price of their propane is SIGNIFICANTLY higher, even with a 100% pre-buy, than their competitors. Example: i was paying $3.49 a gallon PRE-BUY with Fred's and now I'm paying $2.09 at Suburban.
GOUGING! Lower your overhead so that people can afford to heat their houses and service their appliances and be safe!

Horrible service. I've been using freds since I bought my house. Called them out to convert my new oven and to service the tenants furniture over a month ago. Oven went well, during the furnace service was told that it needed new burners as the are rusted and won't fire. So tenant has no heat. 4 weeks later and Still no heat for my tenant

We have been with Fred's for two years. Best pricing on heating fuel, and we always know we won't be randomly overcharged unlike the previoua two companies we used. Love the immediate electronic receipt that we receive as the driver is driving away. Customer service has been good for us, so not sure why others have written such negative comments. Bottom line is, Fred’s has met and exceeded our expectations. I keep a running tab of our usage but I'm glad to not feel the need to micromanage our delivery service anymore.
