Well worth the hike. You have to park on the road then hike down the train tracks, so it isn't the best hike. Some of the embankment is washed out, too, so be careful. The train doesn't sound the horn, so be vigilant. It's private property and Dunsmuir hasn't really invested in Mossbrae, even though I believe they should. It's spectacular.

All the glowing reviews about this place are 100% true. It might just be the most breathtaking nature spot I’ve ever experienced. I took my niece with me. The waterfalls and streams are stunning, and the view of Mt. Shasta—especially when it’s snow-capped—is absolutely unreal.

If you're looking for directions to Mossbrae Falls, here’s how I got there (shoutout to a helpful post I found earlier): park on Dunsmuir Ave near the Cave Springs Hotel. From there, walk to Scarlet Way, which connects to Cave Avenue. Follow the train tracks until you reach the bridge—it’s about a 30 to 40-minute walk from your car to the falls. Just be cautious while walking the tracks, and you’ll be fine.

After trying to find the falls from various locations ,a lovely local gentleman helped us out with precise directions to get to the falls.Park on Dunsmuir ave across cave springs retreat, walk down scarlet avenue to cave Ave, cross the bridge, you’ll come across a railway track turn right and walk about 25-35 minutes (1.2 miles ) to reach a railway bridge- right before the bridge walk down to the falls on the right. The trial is offbeat along the train tracks and gravel, They are raising funds to open an official trial that extends from hedge creek falls to Mossbrae .

Breathtakingly beautiful !! Took us exactly about 35 mins from the entrance of Shasta retreat to the falls, one way. We parked the car a minute away from Shasta retreat entrance, free parking on the side of the road. No trains came by. Yes, a few tight spots along the trail, forced to walk right by the side of the track, made sure we always had ears and eyes out for any signs of train.

I made a tiktok on how to find this place. This was all in April, so please comment on my TikTok @nicktheavatar if there’s any updates or anything changes with parking situation. I parked on Dunsmuir Ave.
Also: I know there was one dirt parking spot across the bridge, before you start walking the train tracks

This place is something out of a Bob Ross painting. The trek to get there is exciting, and the feeling of seclusion once there is unmatched.

People have been doing a good job of keeping it clean. We saw a couple Gatorade bottles, but for the most part it seems people are paying this place the respect it deserves.

Pro tip, the walk to can be a bit hazardous along the jagged rough of the train track. Bring sturdy shoes!
