I recently hired Avalon Structural to enhance the foundation of my house, a project that included installing push and helical piers and leveling the structure. The entire process took about six weeks, and I’m very happy with the results.

1. Roger has a busy schedule, but when available, he was patient and clearly explained the engineering details in a way I could understand, despite my lack of construction knowledge.

2. An independent soil engineer I hired observed the work and concluded that Avalon was honest and fulfilled their commitments.

3. The project was substantial, involving dozens of piers, yet I found the pricing to be reasonable.

4. The onsite crew was friendly and open to discussions. They even took care of a few small issues outside the contract without being asked, just because they were already there.

5. Avalon is clearly in high demand throughout the Bay Area. I waited a few months from design to execution (partly due to my own schedule), but the quality of work made it well worth the wait.

These guys are true professionals. We needed a structural engineering company to fix a sinking foundation. We got 3 quotes from Bay Area companies, and the one from Avalon is by far the most comprehensive. Gabby spent over 2+ hours inspecting the whole house, especially in the crawl space, and gave a detailed assessment of the condition. Roger and Rory provided their professional support during the design/planning phase and throughout the project. And our crew leaders (Rudy, Tony, and Alejandro) did an excellent execution of the project plan. The crew is always on time, cooperative to our needs, clean, and pleasant to work with. The crew's attention to details is impressive, and I am happy with the outcome. Avalon Structural was not the lowest bidder, but I thought they are the best value.

I have used other structural engineering companies in the past for business and personal issues and they do not compare to what I receive with Avalon. With other engineering companies we have received inflated prices and an unrealistic repair bids. Avalon comes with a realistic approach and reasonable pricing. Aa a real estate agent selling Santa Cruz mountain homes, I encounter many different types of foundation types and problems, not to mention drainage issues, retaining walls etc. Avalon have been my preferred foundation/structural inspector for about 15 years. Prior to that, most of the reputable foundation inspectors in our business were known for their intimidating 'deal killing' reports, providing very high quotes that might serve a buyer looking to negotiate a heavy discount, but often scaring buyers off altogether. When Avalon came onto the scene, they were a breath of fresh air. They offered practical and affordable solutions to our foundation issues, and the depth of experience, equipment and crews to get it done efficiently. As word spread Avalon soon became the 'go to' Realtors would call for inspections, proposals, and advice about structural issues, their inspection reports were trusted by everyone in the business. And if another inspector had already given a high estimate, a 2nd opinion or competitive bid from Avalon might save the transaction.
This a locally owned, family business. Owner Roger Pase and his son Dylan Pase are the engineers. They are both the nicest people who truly care about helping their clients, and finding the best approach or solutions without charging the earth. Over the years I've called Roger directly many times for advice and he's always been helpful, reassuring and courteous to us and our clients. If I have a senior client with limited funds and a number of worrying structural issues with their home, Roger will help by advising which projects to prioritize, or find a measured approach to keep the project within budget for the client.
Avalon is a company with a soul, they are the consulate professionals and their care and consideration for their clients and the agents who refer them is very evident. Cannot recommend more highly.

I highly recommend Avalon Structural Inc. I worked with them on a fairly complicated project in Carmel. A different civil engineer (who shall go unnamed) had misdiagnosed the core issue, and was recommending we undertake over $100,000 worth of repairs. In the end, Dylan Pase of Avalon Structural correctly diagnosed the true problem. After initial exploration was undertaken we started the repair process. During the whole process Roger and the staff at Avalon Structural were extremely responsive and responsible. The repair was appropriately completed at a very fair price. I would trust them to diagnose and repair the most complicated of foundation and structural support issues.
