Bottom line. They damaged my system April 2023 using an unlicensed contractor for a $5000 project. They were contracted to detach / attach 36 panels so the roof could be repaired.
It's still broken Oct 2023. They blame Sunpower because they haven't shipped a readily availble (ebay) cable. Sunpower equally bad.
The net-net of the worst part is they broke DOZENS of concrete tiles during the detach and attach process. At least 28 were broken after my roofing contractor finished. That's verifiable. They took (stole?) them from a stack of 42 the contractor placed in the yard to be picked up later. Concrete tiles are not cheap.
They placed the panels in the yard while they were detached almost two weeks. They collected dust and the dust stuck bcause of the rain. They installed them on the roof in that filthy condition (visible in the photo) which probably accounts for the ~10% reduction in output the last 3 bright sunny days since they were reconnected. Peak output hit 12.9 kWh the week before the detach. Now it tops at 11.5 kWh at a time when it should be increasing.
The panels are misalligned with some visibily (see photo) from the street at 1/2 to 1" higher. It was not like that before they arrived. No installation in the neighborhood looks this sloppy.
Today they responded to my lengthy email with nothing substantial. They asked for photographs to support my claim! Unbelievable. I'm not their photographer. The proper response to a customer would have been to send over a senior manager to take a look at the work. Better yet, they should have inspected the work Saturday since I already warned them about sloppy work.
They completed the work. Not perfect. Only good enough. I just want them off my roof. Not impressed with how they managed the project and responded to complaints.
Now I'm trying to get Sunpower corporate to respond to a case. Power production is still below what it was before the detach / attach done by Alternative Energy. I asked them to look at reports to see if there's something wrong. 7 days and no response to my case. They are as bad as AE. No valid explanation whey solar output is reduced after the AE work.
I'm running out of space here. They did not upgrade my mounts. They replace my premium Sunpower supplied mounts shown dumped in a pile in the photos. Why? Don't know. Maybe they damaged them taking them off. Also a pile of interconnect cables with connectors exposed. Panels stored on the dirt and gravel against my fruit trees. Wonder why they became dirty?
Now you can see. Trusses almost extending into my neighbors yard. Loose screws and hardware just left on te concrete. Yeah. Maybe that's why you "upgraded" me. This is how they removed and stored my $30K + solar installation. When done for the day, all breaker panels were left open. I can go on and on. Constant contact? A bold lie. There was NEVER a manager from AE onsite. It was a subcontractor. After my complaints nobody came from AE to inspect. Cleaning? It was a kid standing on the peak of the roof with my garden hose hosing off the dirt. They still aren't as clean as they were after being on the roof a year. He didn't have proper cleaning supplies. Dude. Just go away. Learn from it.
P.S. Don't pat yourself on the back and claim service excellence.
You did not make everything right. The panels were not as clean as when removed. I'm not sure the mounts you used are as good as those from the original installation. It does not look as good as original. The panels were somewhat leveled but not to the same standard before the work. I just don't want you on the roof. And worst of all, I'm working with Sunpower support to figure out why solar production is lower. So if that's your definition of making everything right, you accomplish that!
UPDATE: Nothing resolved as of 10-3-2023. Complaints to Arizona Attorney General's office against Alternative Energy LLC in AZ and Sunpower of Texas.
Love the new reviews! Suspicious? Not.
