I have 2 disabled children living at home requiring medical devices!!! They took me off budget billing and are forcing me to pay over $1100 that I don't have or get my lights cut off. They gave me 2 days to pay it which I can't! Got with Easter Missouri action agency that agreed to pay it but they haven't received it yet!!! They won't even give me 24 hours to wait on the pledge!!! They said they won't do nothing to help me or my children unless I pay it in full by end of day today!!! You would think people would be patient especially with disabled kids!!! I see where this company stands with their customers!!! I'll buy a generator and live on that before I use Ameren ever again!!! Thank you Ameren for thinking about us

Worst and most expensive electric company I've ever dealt with. Recently moved from Springfield,MO living in a 3 bed 2 bath double wide. The highest bill i ever had was about 220 dollars. Now I move to southeast Missouri on Ameren and my bill is almost 250 dollars for 1 month in a 2 bed 1 bath single wide! I drive 1 hour to work and work 12 to 13 hour shifts and drive 1hour back. So im home less than 8 hours a day!!!! No reason my bill should be this dang high. It's because the ceos of this company or gettin high on greed. I down sized to save money and ameren now as of 2025 wants to jack up prices more! Solar it is.

Today I received a last due bill. Wondering where did it come from considering I just paid my full account last month last posted payment was OCTOBER 4,2021 . I just received a bill last week stating my new bill of just a $171. But this week a past due bill $334.86. This most definitely not right. Now this happen before and I just paid it. But there most definitely needs to be an investigation. I also received pledges from EMAA . Seems every since the pledges my account been very different. Who should I contact ? To report . I have bank statements and also my mail from last week stating I owe nothing now this week I’m past due for an outstanding balance ?

Truly one of the worst companies/entities I've had to deal with in any capacity. They are unreasonable, illogical, and stubborn. It is a shame for Cape Girardeau residents that this is the only energy provider in town. I'd pay 1.5x what I'm paying now to someone else so that this awful company never saw another dime of my money. They have shady business practices, and I do not feel my information is secure with them, but with no apparent accountability, I don't know how to check. Somebody called in with my address, so they switched the service without notifying me, my service got cut off, and when I called in to have it fixed and put back into my name, I was charged a disconnecting and reconnecting fee, and then a subsequent $150 "deposit" fee that I will see back in 14 months. I'm not a lawyer so I can't speak to the legality, but as your everyday person, it seems absolutely ludicrous. I've spent hours on the phone with customer service reps, various supervisors and HR people and have kept my cool each hour long conversation (of which there were several) and still have gotten no where. Absolutely abysmal customer service, and I implore any other company to please come to Cape. Please come take my money so I don't have to give it to these crooks.

If it was possible to give Ameren electric a lower rating I would. If I had any other option id switch. Today my roommates and I were basically ROBBED when Our 220$ Bill was deducted from my cashapp account and I was charged an extra 650$!!! I have called cash app and they have the paperwork proving the transactions were made simultaneously and this isn't an error on cashapp or myself. Watch your bank statements people! When I imagine ameren electric I think of a Mr. Burns esk character, burning orphan donations and abusing puppies.

I have not been refunded my money yet, but I have been told the best they could do would be reimbursing me 300$ in 7-14 business days. So what's happening with my other 350?!

I didn't get that answer because I was hung up on.

Awful deposit policies. All they care about is getting money. It's too bad this is the only power in area. Moving and shutting off service and won't give deposit back because, I assumed, last bill would get paid from $180 deposit. That is how any other deposit works. Wrong! They are keeping it. They should not call it deposit. What about the $180 worth of food I had to throw away because my power was out for so long over the weekend?

I moved from an apartment into a house two years ago. Before I moved I called and informed Ameren. I was told to call back when I gave up my apartment, which I did. I started to receive bills to my house but the account was for the apartment and not for my home.

I called and talked to several people and informed them that the bill was for my old apartment which I no longer lived at and I haven’t received a bill for my house. After 45 minutes of being on the phone, I was told that they had no record that I moved even though I called when I was no longer on the lease. The kicker is that my fiancée’s sister and brother-in-law took over my lease and had been paying their bill.

Ameren said they wasn’t receiving a bill for that address and that the post office was to blame for not bringing me the correct bill and I was hung up on after that. I do not recommend Ameren to anyone and if there was another service I’d switch.
