Amy Emme was an archery coach to my three sons in her group classes for a few years. In asking my oldest son what he remembers about her as a teacher he said, “Amy was a really good cheerleader. She gave us positive rewards through her words.” As a mother I noticed that her knowledge of coaching was spot on. When they listened to her instructions, they hit the center of the target more often. She was enthusiastic as she taught her classes, with a smile and bubbly energy. Her classes were fun and creative. Because archery can be a safety concern, she drilled and reminded the students in a positive way to remain behind the line and wait until everyone in the class finished shooting their arrows. Amy wasn’t afraid to say what needed to be said to correct wrong behavior or to improve shooting form, but she said it in a kind way, without intimidation or frustration. Amy was very approachable and kind and children and adults alike felt comfortable asking for help or further instructions. An adult student even went to the Olympics in archery and to me this shows the quality of instruction. Amy went the second mile, letting everyone know by her actions and words that she cared about them as individuals and wanted them to achieve their best at archery and in life. Amy Emme sparkles! Her enthusiasm for helping people grow and achieve their best is genuine and her kindness makes for a safe environment to grow.
