We began our process of looking at adding solar several months ago. I reached out to several companies but Big Dog Solar was the only one that would return a call....We had an extremely helpful rep named Kenny B come by! He took his time to explain everything so there were no surprises. The pricing for our home was reasonable and the financing worked well for our budget, so we signed up. Our over all took several months, we had to have a tree removed and then of course dealing with Blackhills in no picnic ?. After waiting on the net meter to arrive and the net meter Gods to install it, We are up and running. I have not received the first bill but we will revise this review as soon we get it. I would recommend this business for your Solar install and ask for Kenny B!

Kenny was my main representative and he was great to me and my family. Kenny was very patient with our questions, gave thorough explanations on the product, the billing, installation, rebates, and the benefits of going solar. Whenever anyone asks me about going solar, I always refer them to Big Dog Solar!

I first inquired online about Solar energy through Big Dog Solar, and they were quick to get back to me. Then we met our sales person, Adrian, at my home. Adrian was awesome, and very knowledgeable! The whole process from sales visit to completion took about 3 weeks and that was only because my electric company had to change out the meter to adjust for me making my own energy. Big Dog finished everything super quickly and the work was high quality! Thank you Big Dog Solar!!

My wife and I had a solar-electric system installed along with a 240V electric car charger and a whole-house generator. We had some technical issues as our installation went along involving defective parts. Big Dog diagnosed and resolved each issue quickly and effectively. Neil, Jacob and the rest of the Big Dog team are really good at what they do and are very knowledgeable about solar systems. If I could would leave ZERO stars . My folks went through this company, and all I’ve seen is them fighting back and forth with black hills and big dog about their $ 600-700 electric bills . The size of their unit panels is enormous- big dog kept saying it was an error on black hills part , so we had black hills come out and guess what ? There’s an inverter component out - something my dad brought up with Big dog solar several months - year ago . How can people afford to keep paying that much every month for their electric ? Worse is the way my parents have been put off by this company and given the run around . Shame on you Big Dog Solar .
I’d like to add that today - black hills came out because they were alerted that out solar panels were not putting anything out - only to discover that big dog solar wired the panel wrong , and everything inside melted , and black hills said we could’ve lost our home ! We did call big dog solar only to be told they’d have someone all us back , seriously, someone will call us back ?! Not even an apology- I will never recommend your company to anyone. After having these panels for three years they had 1 solid month of use , and nothing but problems .

It’s been 5 months since we’ve signed our contract and our installation still isn’t complete. It took nearly 3 months to get a partial installation. Despite daily calls which were rarely returned, it took another 2 months for an inspection, which failed 3 times. Big dog would schedule techs to make changes, but wouldnt show up or notify us. Now my first bill is due and my system still isn’t finished. A horrible experience in customer service. I strongly regret choosing Big Dog Solar for this job. Go with a different company, or prepare for a never ending run-around.
