I was at Bronson on Friday January 10 2025. My son was brought into the ER by ambulance. The care he received was good. The ER we were in was dirty, the corners were filled with dirt. On the bottom of the bed there is the molded plastic I ran my hand across that and it was filthy dirty. I was the bathroom in the ER hallway the toilet was a mess the trash was overflowing onto the floor. While standing outside of my son’s room the wood trim was covered in dust and dirt as I leaned on it. I was hoping to see better there. Then as I thought back 2 years ago my mom had a 18 day stay at Bronson. She first started in the ER, then went to ICU, and then to general care. Not much has changed since then. Totally disappointed in there cleaning habits.

Mother baby unit kinda sucks when it comes to hospitality for present fathers. OR staff was amazing, and the nurse that prepped my girlfriend for surgery, walked along side her during transport, through her surgery, and through recovery was fantastic, took time to remember my name, most of em just call ya “dad”, talked to US about momma and babies health and concerns they had, and status changes, kept me updated. Whole nine yards. Mother baby unit… not so much. Had someone in not such a friendly manner take my son, kinda just got all up in my business and took him not a “ can I borrow him for a second” like the other nurses, then turned around and gave him back to his mom, even though I was visibly enjoying cuddles with my son, had another kinda make it seem like she didn’t want my son to stay with me while my girlfriend got a ct. bottom line I’m glad I don’t gotta come back here again

I have been going to Bronson for awhile now and there are some good doctors there. And unfortunately there are some that's not so good. I went to see Dr.Betzle for my knee. I had Arthrofibrosis from a previous surgery. In 2022 this man gave me a full knee replacement. I was happy ready to go back bowling. A few months passed and I was having a lot of pain. He told me give it some time it will get better. I went home made a appointment with my primary care doctor who sent me for a MRI. Come to find out my implant was loosen. Went back to see Dr. BETZLE he asked me to please let him fix it, so I did. Nov.2023 he did another surgery to fix my loosen implant. After the surgery they tried to stand me up to walk. We'll my leg buckled. He brought some machine in to look at my leg only to find out my tendons in my thigh was torn. He explained how the removal of the old implant took him longer than expected to get it out. DR.Betzle put me in a leg brace for a week repaired my tendons the following Friday sent me home the next day with a leg brace and crutches. I did see him again before the brace was removed. But once the brace came off my leg was locked I couldn't straighten it..this man sent me to his colleague saying lets get a fresh pair of eyes to look at my leg. His colleague said the only thing could be done was amputation. I go back to see the good ole Dr.. He tells me he agrees with his colleague get the amputation and that will help with the pain..let's just say I am still on crutches a year later not looking forward to having my leg removed no time soo .especially when I don't have infection..which would be the only reason for a amputation...make it make sense. All I can say is do your research.

Okay, Bronson has hurt and disappointed a few times. I have been going all my life. Maybe too much. I have not been nice to the doctors and nurses because I had been left crying after appointments often. But I think it might be a me issue and just how different the medical landscape is. Things have been changing. Insurance companies not paying, lack of available staff, and covid has made being not just a patient but being hospital staff very difficult. These changes are not really dictated to the laymen. And everyone becomes mad. I have made 2 nasty reviews here over the years because I was lost. When I have gone in I felt like I was being perceived as an attention or drug seeker or a hypochondriac. None of those things are true of me. The truth is that I am mentally unwell. I will say Bronson is lacking in understanding towards mental illness. Especially in the ER. And once you are labeled as difficult, most of the staff will treat you as such. They may not consider the depths of your madness but take hostility or confusion and other symptoms as the bigger issue. Thus your physical problems get pushed aside. It is normal to have both mental illness and be sick at the same time and the lack of communication leads to bigger issues. I have had a number of mental urgencies simply because I waited for all these symptoms, real or imaginary, build up then I get paranoid, anxious and mean. When a doctor doesn't understand that of all the thousands of things spilling out of my mouth, I there because I need to be. Maybe because I anxious. Staff need to know not just how to identify anxiety but how to deescalate... I have no idea how to spell that. Talk patients down until they come to the real issue. We are lucky to have a lot of mental health services in town to which patients can be made aware of. But the more mistrust, misunderstanding, and confusion between doctor and patient, the more intense it makes the stress and then fear and ultimately the explosion of emotion. I think patients need to be more informed about the trouble facing staff or the extent of their position, to open up a line of healthy conversation. Hostility is wrong on my part but also wrong when I come in thinking I am dying of something. We all just need to be a little more compassionate and educated. I am very sane right now so I thought I would do a review without the rant. And I apologize to the doctors who I have been a total jerk to. More so than to anyone, Dr. Chapman. He really is a great human. (I am not proofreading this)

brought my fiance in due to severe abdominal pain. Had to pick her up from work and rush her to the ER, arrived around 5:30 pm. She was in so much pain she couldn't stand up, we thought maybe appendicitis due to location of acute pain. Waiting area was 3/4 full. She sat there from 530pm watching people that were there before her get seen, then watching people who came after her get seen all the while she is bent 90 degrees in excruciating pain! Told patients are seen by severity of problem, they don't even know why she's in severe pain!!! Finally at 9:34pm she is called, only 4 hours sitting in the ER lobby crying in severe pain! Why This is unacceptable! The whole time I watched scores of nurses and doctors sitting down or going outside to talk to each other or have a smoke just acting like there was nothing else for them to do! I wasn't sick when I arrived but halfway through this ordeal it was all I could do not to vomit all over their floors, this is wholly and thoroughly incompetence, malpractice at the least! I suggest if you have an emergency DO NOT come here! Go to Borgess they actually care about their community and people! Try and remove all of your vital information from their database too because as soon as you enter your personal information into their database for whatever reason, it will be sold and you will immediately begin receiving calls and texts from places you've never heard from! Even if you are on the DO NOT CALL LIST, you will still receive hundreds of calls and texts a day like we do. Oh and if you let the intake personnel know that you are in severe pain and have been waiting hours in severe pain all it will do is extend your time waiting to be seen. Unbelievable and evil, no compassion for anyone, not sure if they're prejudice against a certain race, sex or just sick people in general. I'll bet a years salary I'm not the only one that has had this experience. I'm not going to divulge our race other than we're human and even if we were born in China we are still American and still human so it should not matter but I'm afraid that it seems like it does, unless, again, it's just being sick or hurt that is the problem.

Honestly I came to Bronson because borgess emergency room is filthy and there is a slow wait time. I thought Bronson would be better although they are way cleaner than borgess the wait time is literally no better. I got admitted to the ER at 2:19pm , they roomed me at 6pm, and still have yet to see a provider and it’s 7:33pm. I’m seeing to many RNS ED TECHS PHLEBOTOMIST ECT walking around but not enough helping. No one has even came to check on me yet and I’ve been “roomed for a 1 1/2 hours” I had to ask why I haven’t been checked on. I have had better experiences in the past here but after today I don’t understand how Bronson is so well respected. An elderly man asked for a blanket after he had been waiting for 3hrs while constantly throwing up in the waiting room they told them they don’t give blankets until patients are roomed. Yet put no rush on rooming him . Why wouldn’t they accommodate the elderly?! There was a woman moaning and groaning whimpering even in pain they didn’t even check on her just kept saying sorry for the wait if they are under staff this is the time to hire ! Job fair something because the emergency department it’s clearly under staff and people needing help does not stop.

I received excellent care for an outpatient surgery this week. Every staff member from the front desk, to nurses, to anesthetist were very kind & made the stressful experience of being put under not scary at all for me. The surgeon was right on time with his estimate for length of the procedure & they got my pain controlled and on my way home very quickly after I woke up.

My mother is in the icu trauma and most likely not going to make it. Her nurses, icu doctor are fine with letting her only two kids and husband be with her. The phone person (female blondish hair) is abrupt and rude. Apparently she overrides the doctors so one of us cannot see my mother while she is semi coherent.
