We pulled in for two nights and stayed 11. Great shower house (hot water and clean), beautiful setting - creek x 2, gardens to roam, cool hand-built terraced property, things to explore, great views, close to Sedona (15 min drive to the heart of Sedona - traffic determining) and big sky. Close to trails and state parks. Has power and water available throughout the property. Wifi…. We’re camping and trying to disconnect, so can’t speak to it. I also can’t speak to a summer stay, but the sun found us in November for some early morning heat, which after a cold night was great. We tented. There’s a raised platform to meditate on and do a bit of yoga on in the morning sun. And the javalinas are definitely something to remember as far as keeping a clean campsite. Was such a gift to see and hear them at night. We loved seeing them. Silly Canadians! lol.

The name is a tad misleading - retreat. Maybe there’s classes and such during the busier months, but having the ability to join some meditation or yoga classes on site would be great to really feel the retreat/community vibe. And learning more about the creators of this property would have been great as well, maybe that’s more posted info on site, maybe reading material?

All in all, we’d come back for sure. Thank for Camp Avalon for the great stay!

But really, no complaints and at $40 a night, we were more than happy to spend considering what a hotel would have been and the next nearest “open” camp spot was at least 20 minutes away.

We had a local tell us about this special place. We were very warmly welcomed by Chase, who made us feel right at home and also provided us with some epic recommendations for the drive back north when we left.
Showers and bathrooms were great, and the creek swimming was a bonus. It was peaceful and quiet and close to everything in town. We will definitely be back!

Few places speak to the heart of hospitality, community, and kindness like that of Camp Avalon. The hosts, Stephen and Hoss, are gracious, helpful, accommodating, and attentive. Weekend yoga, beautiful views, well-maintained facilities, spacious sites, all one could ask for and steps from the creek, hiking trails, and Sedona highlights. Well worth an extended visit.

Every single one of these reviews is spot on for how incredible this place is. It’s quiet, it’s grounding, it’s breathtaking, it’s communal. It’s one of the best campgrounds I’ve ever been to. The camp host Hoss is the shining GEM of this place. The people camping here were beyond wonderful. I will be carrying this place with me for a while. 💕

Don’t miss out on this amazing, serene, special campground. We arrived after dark, and the owners/hosts came out to meet us immediately and escort us to pick a campsite for the night. The property is beautiful, the bathrooms are so clean, warm and well done.

Loved having a campfire under the stars and then waking up and walking to the most calm, stunning creek. Will come back next time for longer. 🙂

I was leery about booking at a private campsite, but was pleasantly surprised. The areas are well-maintained and the views are great. The hosts are very friendly as well.
From the campgrounds, you can take an easy path down to Oak Creek. It was lush and shady, and if you go to the end of the path, you'll find a lovely waterfall - I'm guessing it's natural and not man-made.
I am looking forward to my next visit!!
