I am selling a house that has been on the market for 4 months. Citrus County Utilities charges $38.31 a month for 0 gallons used. With prices gouging in society today, esp when no water is being used, the price should be a lot lower than that! I already paid the service charges when I began service at the start. What a form of EXTORTION! Shame on you Citrus County!! Maybe charge less and decrease the pay of employees that sit in their trucks or all overpaid head honchos making up these ridiculous charges that they probably don't think twice about that amount of money.

Update: My new Jan 2025 Bill for 0 gallons used has gone up to $39.70. Greedy people don't make life easy.

My father was in the hospital for over 4 months, during that time his water was shut off due to non pay. We were told several times he was going to be released from the hosptial. We paid the account and brought it to zero. Once the bill was paid, we were informed the account could not be reopened and he needed to apply for new service. We applied for new service and the water was turned back on, after a lot of back and forth the water was turned on. My father was never released from the hospital and passed away. I had his mail forwarded to my house, I opened the water bill which was $350. I contacted the billing department to pay the bill and request the late fees be waived due to the circumstances. I spoke to Heidi who informed me they would NOT waive the late fee, the only exception is when they make an error. Heide also let me know the bill was past due and the water could be shut off at any time. I asked to speak to her manager, she put me on hold for about 10 minutes then told me to pay everything but the late fee and she would ask her director but I may still need to pay. I really hope not, because they also charge a fee for check and credit card payments. Needless to say, I was very dissappointed with the customer service Heidi provided. The bill has been paid, now I wait to see if they will waive the fee.

Update:
9/4: Its been about a week, no call back and I was just billed for the fee.
9/5: Called to inquire about fee waiver, they let me know it was still with the director for review
9/9: Received second notice of my "past due" bill consisting of late fees
9/10: Called to speak to the Business Services Director named Bernadine, since the notice to contact me is sitting on her desk. She wasn't avaiable, customer service rep said she would let her know to call me back.

On February 18th we had feces back up into our drains in the master bathroom. Called a plumber to come out to take a look. Found our lines in the home were clear. Found that the county side is full. Called Citrus County Water on Monday the 19th to let them know. They came out same day to clear the lines. NOT THE BLOCKAGE! County workers state that we are good for the next two day but, after that it will start to back up again. Today, the 21st i called the county to get an update. The county worker showed up a couple of hours later. He told me no one knew of this problem. NO ONE turned in paper work or stated there is a problem in my neighborhood. He also stated that they are working on a big problem in the area and it might be a couple more days! Being my house is the closest to the blockage, it will back up into my yard. The lack in communication is astonishing.

EDIT: They have been here since 2pm today, The 21st. Its now close to 7pm. they have unclogged the blockage and have found a busted pipe. They have fixed the problem and made sure all pipes were in good working order. Thank you for your dedicated work ethics.

If a water line breaks they will not show up. That’s so they can charge you for the water shooting out into your yard. But they tell you not to turn off your own water or you will be fined. So we are always under water conservation but they won’t quickly shut off water for a major problem. This company also charges more for water than for anything else utility related. Don’t buy or rent a home zoned for this company unless you’re okay with literally setting fire to your money. Worst quality water and customer service I’ve ever experienced.

Don't you dare buy a house in citrus county... where they charge you a $534 deposit just to start your water. Absolutely outrageous.

Literally the worst company ever !!!!! Had to go through hoola hoops to pay my bill , no supervisor ever and then when you finally get one , they talk over you , don’t try to help at all and then they hang up on you , I definitely know they are only in business still because everyone needs water .this company will have you move right out of this county because they are ridiculous and ripping off and lying to their customers!!!!!!

The water bill is a ripoff. I got a bill for $100 for 9 days. Also, the day I was moving I was in Citrus County 5 minutes when I got pulled over by a Sheriff who gave me a speeding ticket for a school zone violation. There were no school buses in sight and no kids anywhere and it was Nov 9 Election day. The only lights that were flashing were sheriff cars waiting like vultures for somebody to slip. My car was loaded up and was trying to avoid sudden stops.
