Dawn and Doc were a huge help in getting a generator serviced. When an alarm went off just before Christmas, Dawn was able to get a technician dispatched to the property to silence and troubleshoot the alarm on the same day. Then within a couple weeks, Doc met me up at the property for service and was very thorough in explaining the work that he was doing, as well as things to look out for in the future. He took the time to patiently answer all of my questions and walked me through the entire process. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and highly recommend Colorado Energy Systems to anyone in the Roaring Fork Valley for their generator needs.

Editing my review: We purchased a Kohler whole-house generator and hired Colorado Energy Systems to do the start-up, which sets the warranty period with Kohler to be the date the generator was started for the first time, instead of the manufacture date. In our case, the manufacture date was almost a year old, so it was worth the cost to get the longest possible warranty on the generator. Our contractor’s electrician installed the unit and scheduled the startup with CES.

The technician came as scheduled, discovered two wires that were damaged in manufacture or shipping, and repaired them during the start-up. He set the exercise program to the routine that would use the least amount of fuel. The first weekend after installation, however, we began having an error code that would shut off the generator until someone manually reset the unit at the control panel. As we live on a mountain with cold winters, we need the unit repaired to ensure the generator operates as expected when we’re traveling and no one is on-site to do the reset.

We called CES to report the problem and spoke to the service agent, who said they would have the technician call us to schedule a repair. We never heard back, so over the next 2-3 months we called multiple times and left messages on the service representative’s voicemail with our contact information.

We only recently were able to reach the service representative. Turns out, our contractor set the installing electrician’s phone number as our main contact number, as he wanted the electrician to be there for the start up. Unfortunately, CES kept calling this number instead of the numbers we were leaving in the voicemails, and said they were unable to reach us.

I finally spoke with the owner today who verified they had been trying to call, which is when we discovered the problem with main contact number on our account. He corrected that, then explained that the service representative, who does all the scheduling, was out of the office for extended periods the last several months, for several reasons, and no one had the ability to check their voicemail to get our correct number; they only had the main incorrect number listed on our account. He indicated they were improving their processes to prevent such a problem in the future. They are still waiting on the replacement part for the suspected cause of the problem, but the owner has assured me they will stay on top of it and call our correct contact number to schedule once they receive the part.

I do appreciate that the owner took time to call, verify and correct our contact information, and take responsibility for the communication errors, so have upgraded my review. I will edit further once the repair has been completed.
