These guys did an awesome job on my project. There were lots of unusual things with my install, and they breezed through it quickly and professionally. 16kW DC / 12kW AC ground mount in Bonny Doon.

I purchased a home with a solid system installed by this company, and the solar system not responding or working. I reached out to the manufacturer and they recommended a part that needed to be repaired or replaced. Come to find out the part was never installed. I purchased the part and reached out to have them come out and check the issue. He said ok let me check the system and I’ll come talk to you. He put the part on and then said ok it’s all up and working. Next thing I know I’m being charged not only for the part but for them installing the part that should have been installed by them. I reached out to the manufacture and they explained that without the part if something was to go wrong with the system they wouldn’t be able to know what the issue was and it was recommended for systems during install, and wouldn’t be able to fix or stand behind the warranty. They explained that they can only recommend what should be installed by these 3rd party installers and it’s on them what to install. They charged the owner thousands and thousands of dollars to do an incomplete install that was recommended by the manufacturer just to come out later and charge the home owner more money. They were not able to answer simple questions about the install and equipment they installed. I finally gave in, even after not knowing they were going to be sending me a bill, and tried to pay the invoice just so they would stop harassing my family. The check was sent back. I even drove out of my way to their location to drop off payment. They don’t have anyone at the office to accept payment, Megan rudely stated she works from home. However they keep increasing the invoice and trying to add more and more charges to it, without working with me for an invoice that shouldn’t of been sent to me anyway. I wonder how many other customers they scheme or and harass to get more money out of them. The manufacture seemed disappointed in the service proved by them and was mention of some of these fly by night companies, how they don’t have any control over what they do. Hearing that the left out recommend parts during install and I’m having trouble with my electrical grid I have no choice but to pay another company to overlook the job they preformed and to make sure my home is safe from any potential hazards or loss, and then file a complaint against them, and hopefully this will be resolved in court, as they are unwilling to do anything besides adding more and more charges to the invoice.

They installed a nice system. We had a lot of roof work being done at the same time as the solar installation - 3 different contractors besides Day One and they were able to work within the schedules and modify the layout as needed. Installed on-time within budget.

Installed a system for us in Oct 2021. Perfect job from start to finish -- system design was for a difficult roof, but worked out great and is producing slightly more than predicted. Cost and schedule was more than competitive. Permitting process and acceptance by PG&E was smoother and faster than expected. Install crew and office support very professional. We couldn't be happier with the project.

They did a great job of installing our solar panels and battery. The battery did give them a hard time but they kept after it until it worked. We have not paid PGE for electricity for 9 months. We run completely off the solar panels and battery.

First thing I phone in after work hours for an issue I was having wiring a solar panel to a outdoor back-lit sign. The following morning I received a follow up call from their office manager (very Pleasant) asking for details about my issues. After a brief explanation she included me on an email to her staff explaining our circumstances and promised a service tech would come out to investigate in the afternoon.
Early afternoon, one of their service / project managers showed up to the facility looking at our issues. After spending about an hour or so working on our issue, Ben explained very thoroughly why our wiring hadn't worked and how he approached the issue, couldn't have been more pleasant to deal with.
When I asked Ben for an invoice, he said that he wasn't going to charge me since the issues were minor and that he enjoyed the challenge. WOW, great customer service at NO CHARGE!

I could not have asked for a more pleasant experience and service, I highly recommend Day One Solar to anyone in Santa Cruz county.

My solar panel was dirty and not working. I called Day 1 Solar and Matt came the same day. I needed a new inverter and a cleaning. They came back today, it took 10 days to order and receive the inverter, and installed it and cleaned the entire panel to a mirror finish. Matt and Casey were here 2.5 hours. They explained everything, and that was it. Perfect, timely service. If everything could be like this!

We decided our PG&E bill was too high and it was time to explore the solar option
There is a lot of information you can get from PG&E and
on the internet and for me it was time well spent and an important exercise.
Bear in mind that most solar companies while giving you the sales pitch and
also educate you on the subject.

However, I am one of those people that does a lot of research before I spend my hard earned money. I interviewed several companies and obtained several bids
both locally and over the hill. I also got some recommendations from friends.

The various local companies have specific distributor and therefore sell only
the products their distributor offers . While most companies can shop for other
brands they do not get the same price breaks. Therefore, they push the brands
which will give them the best margins/profits and not necessarily the one that
best fit a specific individual needs

We chose Day One Solar because it is owner operated, does not have layers and layers of management . This was important because I did not have to or want to deal with the salesman, then the office manager, then the installation crew etc etc.

These are local men who have lived in Santa Cruz for many years.
They are committed to the community and have great reputations as men of integrity as well as doing quality workmanship. As independent contractors they were
not limited to any specific brand and was able to get the brand I wanted and at a very
good price.

Bottom line: They worked within my budget, gave me the best products, did a very thorough installation, on time and followed thru on each and every question and concern we had in a highly professional and straight forward manner.

I highly recommend Day One Solar for all your solar needs. You will be very happy that you chose this company. I definitely am one very satisfied and happy customer.
