I would have given zero stars, but I had to put at least one so I could post my review regarding my experience here. After calling to get clarification and explaining in detail, what it was I needed and told I could be helped, I go through a process of gathering all the items to take over there only to be told I could not drop it off. sounds like all of the staff should be on the same page so that people don’t waste their time coming to a location for no reason due to staff members at this facility, not being educated in knowing what their own company is responsible for. It’s a shame, and this is probably a big reason why people don’t go out of their way to recycle because facilities make it so difficult to do something that should be simple.

Battery drop off is in front of the building. Mattress drop off is in the back of the building along with the trash dump. You will need a hard hat, closed toe shoes, and a vest to dump your self-hauled trash you put in your car.

This is what I needed to get rid of my trash during covid times. If you do not have a hard hat and vest, you can drive down the street to Grainger to get these items. I have not gone to dispose of trash since Covid, so I am not sure if any rules changed since then.

Referring to the buy back center, the folks who work here are always courteous and efficient. There are usually plenty of containers to dispense product into. So long as some clueless citizen doesn't show up to sort their goods onsite and hold up the process, I can usually can get in and out pretty quickly. My only complaint is the limited hours. Needs to be open on Mondays, open earlier and stay open later. Not serving the community (rate payers) well with the limited hours. Could do better.

Overall, I thought the service here was reasonable and smooth. For perspective, I dropped off a well-worn three-cushion sofa, and for the current rates, it cost $28.70 for properly disposing it.

Some things to keep in mind if you plan to pay a visit to the transfer station (to dispose of acceptable materials):
* It is open to the public again from Monday - Saturday from 5:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (after limitations due to COVID-19).
* Enter off of Sturgis Rd. There are signs at the entrance to guide you in.
* There are two scales when you enter the facility. The one on the left is for cash/card payments; the one on the right is for those with an account with the city.
* They only accept Visa or MasterCard (no American Express or Discover).
* After the booth attendant tells you which bay to go into, you will want to back your vehicle into that bay.
* You will have to get in line a second time, as the booth attendant will hold your ID and form of payment while you unload and dump your materials.

Hopefully this simplifies your experience when you visit this location to dispose of acceptable materials.

Previously I have had very good service from employees at the center. Website shows open weekdays at 5:30 am, but recording today at 6:35 am Friday says they are closed. I called yesterday and left messages to have a rental dumpster emptied BEFORE the weekend so I could continue water saving yard renovations by the crew coming Saturday. I called again yesterday and reached another office and was told someone would call to schedule the pick up. Never got a call back. I'm less satisfied with customer service today, as I need an empty dumpster on Saturday . . .

We had to wait a short time but they are helpful and pleasant. Please know that you can only recycle 100 lbs of plastic at one time. The people we had to wait for had to go to a different place to recycle the rest of their bottles.
