EKI Environment & Water has worked with our builder, KB home, to transfer the financial responsibility and agreement of remediating a hazardous incident report to our Homeowners association without informing or securing consent from the only board representative of our community. Even after exposing them for their questionable conduct, EKI continually reached out to our new property managers in an attempt to get them to pay for the bills that KB was responsible for (as I haven't filled them in on the matter). I've personally talked to the San Mateo County Health to sort out the situation, and also search in public records to find out the truth.

02/28/2024 update:

Hi Christine,

For your reference, attached is an email from John Dewitt to San Mateo County's representative proposing the name change on the contract from KB Homes to El Camino OA. This is all public information on geotracker from San Mateo County.

Bridgeport (management company for our HOA) signed the contract with EKI without informing the community members' representative on the board or including the decision in any official meeting documentation. We have fired Bridgeport for their failure to perform the basic fiducial responsibility to our community.

If you're reading this and you're part of a HOA, stay as far away as you can. Do not make the mistake of paying for any bills without understanding where they came from and why you're on the hook for payments to an environmental agency. Unfortunately, people's money are wasted on things that they shouldn't have to pay for because their HOA didn't look into the contracts and fine prints.

I've looked through the public documentation on the agreement and been on the phone with the Environmental Health Services of San Mateo County many times to sort out what had actually went down. For your reference, attached is a letter from the San Mateo County corroborating with my report.
