The Essex County Environmental Center is a real gem for anyone interested in nature and the environment. There is a wide array of things to see and do, that appeal to people of all ages. There are interesting exhibits in the visitor center. Situated alongside the Passaic River, there is an easily-access canoe launch point. Marked trails offer peaceful and restful mostly-level walks through wooded areas; there is a trail guide in the main Center visitor center. One path is accessible.

Visit the frog pond, and hope there are some frogs out! Keep an eye out for the butterfly tent, which is a special event. Get the e-newsletter to keep current on special programs for people of different ages; some have modest registration fees.

Bring your camera for birds, frogs, and flora! The staff of naturalists are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful! You can do a quick visit for one specific thing of interest or spend several hours exploring around. Be sure to visit in different seasons.

This is a very educational place about the environment. They have great events such as Earth Day and the butterfly tent. The staff are very friendly and laid back. The place has a cozy atmosphere inside and outside. This place also offers summer camp programs for children to learn about the environment and explore nature.

This is a local gem in western Essex and eastern Morris counties. Located on the Passaic River, they have wonderful young children's programs. They also have older children programs including 4H club meetings and adult activities but I haven't tried those yet. Highly recommend if you gave interests in nature!

Great spot to put kayaks into the Passaic. Nice paddling when the water is high. Looks like someone has been clearing snags in the river.

We have done the camp program and the monthly bug club and Mr. David is so wonderful with to kids. My son has a wonderful time with all their programs

Love this little sanctuary spot , if your lucky you can see a beaver 🦫 swim by while you’re sitting by the river 🌱 🪴

Very upset. Went on your web site to look for upcoming events and they are all March listings. It's April 21! Could find nothing for April or May!
