They want you to think it's a power plant but they can't outsmart me and don't let them lie to you. It's a cloud factory.

Nuclear power is clean energy, produces no carbon emissions, and will contribute to a green future. History shows them to be safe as well (problems are extremely rare). Why on earth would we ever shut them down? We should be researching how to further improve their safety, and safely dispose of the spent fuel, and BUILD EVEN MORE!!

While I am 99.9% in favor of nuclear energy and find it a beautiful (albeit eerie) structure, the amount of noise pollution and light pollution is wild.

During the day there is a constant whirring of turbines that can be heard for miles, and a low rumble that can be heard if inside. At night the noise drops significantly, but there is still always a low rumble that can be heard while indoors. Even with active-noise-canceling headphones the low rumble cannot be escaped.

In addition to the noise pollution, the amount of light this thing puts out is incredible. It is like being in a suburb just outside a major city, but it's out in the country. I'm not talking about the lights to warn aircraft, but the lights around the facility--things that could be significantly reduced by simply painting the roads black or covering them with tarmac.

When talking to locals, it doesn't sound like anyone having to deal with the pollution gets anything in return, either.

Again, nothing against the nuclear power plant, but wish there was more consideration put into the amount of light and noise pollution it produces.

Great plant. In addition to providing jobs and generating needed electricity for the area, it also gives folks on I-39 something to look at. Unlike prized windmills, this plant generates lots of actual power 24/7 without killing birds and wasting farmland. Two thumbs up.
