I can’t recommend Exotic Eye Tattoo enough! My sister and I were born in Homer and returned for the first time in over 25 years, seeking the full Homer Alaskan experience. It was my sister’s idea to commemorate our trip with tattoos, and I was all for it. We went to Exotic Eye Tattoo on the Homer Spit, the very place where our father spent his days as a commercial fisherman, bringing back fragmented memories of our childhood spent fishing and playing on the beach.

They were incredibly accommodating for walk-ins, and we scheduled our tattoos for the next day. With only one tattoo under my belt, I spent the evening creating a photoshopped dream tattoo based on years of inspiration. I asked my sister if I could go first since she’s covered in tattoos and I wanted to get mine over with.

When we arrived, we learned that a guest artist, Jorge, would be tattooing us. Meeting him was a highlight; he was totally supportive of my vision and intertwined meanings, providing professional advice and alternatives for long-lasting effects. He dedicated a couple of hours to designing my tattoo, making modifications until it felt just right. When he put the outline on, I asked if we could make it bigger, and despite my sister’s quiet concern about time, Jorge immediately said, “No way! I want it to be exactly how you want it. If you want bigger, let’s go bigger!”

The placement was perfect, and I got cozy on the table. As a first-timer, experiencing the tattoo gun on my skin was an adjustment. I knew I had to manage the pain, so I started humming along to the rhythm of Jorge’s tattoo gun, finding my own vibrations in sync with it. I closed my eyes and slipped into a deep state of meditation.

My sister had warned me it would probably take about two and a half hours, but I was shocked when five hours flew by from start to finish! Jorge worked incredibly fast and skillfully, with every detail in his lines showcasing his years of experience. Unfortunately, my sister didn’t get her tattoo memento, but she was so grateful to support me through the process of creating a masterpiece on my body.

I can’t express enough gratitude to Jorge and Exotic Eye Tattoo for their time and professionalism. The vibe in the shop is incredible, and I walked away with an art piece that commemorates something so special to me. I have a few smaller tattoos. But this one from Emma at Exotic Eye Tattoo was my biggest so far. I had an idea of what I did and did not want. Emma was so great at helping me find the final art, design, and placement.
The end result was better than I expected. She was insightful, kind, and a great artist! Plus the location right on the water is a such a bonus. I would highly recommend them! 🙂

If you’re looking for the best experience, look no further. I’ve gotten two tattoos with Exotic Eye and am absolutely coming back for every tat in the future, despite living 4,000 miles away. The artists are hard working, fantastic people. I’ve had the pleasure of working with both Margot and Maya and have nothing but positive things to say. Margot is the sweetest, calmest soul I’ve ever met in a tat shop. Maya has an infectious personality that is hard to come by, and hands down the best stories. Turned a 6 hour session into a breeze, and continued to be accommodating and hospitable well after the tattoo was finished. Truly made me feel at home in Homer. Amazing work, great people.

I walked into Exotic Eye without an appointment, and they were able to accommodate me later that afternoon! Margot had availability, and I cannot say enough great things about her. From helping tweak my design to perfection and her fine line work to the conversation and her demeanor, I would come back to Homer just to work with Margot on future pieces.

The studio itself has a perfect atmosphere right on the bay. It is one of cleanest and most peaceful tattoo shops I have ever been in. If you have the chance to get work done here, you will be very happy with Exotic Eye!

Exotic Eye Tattoo was such a great vibe. I was able to get a last minute appointment, and showed up to their beautiful location nervous (I’ve had an unsatisfactory experience before with another tattoo artist). My nerves were quickly abated by the atmosphere of their cozy, friendly shop.

All the artists and the front desk staff were amazing - supportive, cheerful, and chill. It was exactly the environment I wanted when getting a tattoo. The price was more than fair for the quality of the work and overall experience! I plan to return for all my future ink.
