The service department, at Finn Auto Group in Blythe California, saved our Jeepers Jamboree Rubicon trip!
We were traveling from Phoenix Arizona to Georgetown California,(about a 13-1/2 hour drive straight through), we departed at 2:45 am, and our Jeep started acting up just outside of Blythe. We were already prepared with spare parts and a basic OBD2 reader, we narrowed it down to misfiring on cylinder 6, 2010 Jeep Wrangler JKU
We replaced the coil pack, in a truck stop parking lot, (remember we are already carrying spare parts), unfortunately that didn't fix our problem, although we did find a large crack on the back of the old coil pack, which saved us more headache down the road, so it wasn't a waste.
At this point it was around 5am. My hubby thought well let's check the spark plug, (we brought spares), unfortunately the plug wire broke off and we didn't have the correct size socket to remove it.
After doing some internet searching we found some local auto parts stores to procure the correct socket to hopefully further our self help adventure.
So we limped our sick, (doggy even when running on all 6 cylinders, any of you that have this brick shaped rig already know this), on 5 cylinders to loiter in their parking lot until they opened at 7am. We bought what we thought we would need only to find out the problem still exists. Now it's time to find a shop with a professional OBD2 reader.
Again I searched the internet to find a local shop that had excellent reviews, we made it to that shop just to find out that they couldn't even look at it for 3 months, this is what we've come to expect.
We are traveling and on a time frame, and trying not to lose everything we invested in our trip.
My husband was hoping that someone could at least use a high-end OBD2 scanner just to find out what our issue was and if we needed to have this towed home or can it be repaired fairly easy in a parking lot.
We took one last chance and pulled into the Flinn service department at opening. From past experience at our local Jeep dealership in the Phoenix area we expected to be turned away and required to make an appointment 6 to 8 weeks down the road just to have them read the computers codes.

All we can say is Wow, that is not what we experienced at Finn Auto Group!
Kim our service writer and Ricky our mechanic were compassionate to our situation and said they would at least find out what's wrong sometime this morning or today, and it could be multiple days to repair, depending on what's needed and parts availability. We were ecstatic that they were even going to look at it the same day, and had already succumbed to spending our vacation, without a vehicle in one of the hottest areas in the US, it's a bit hotter than our hometown.
Okay so we'll marathon watch shows from the comfort of a air-conditioned hotel room and hope someone delivers food. We would just miss out on the beautiful and cooler Rubicon trail hosted by the Jeepers Jamboree out of Georgetown.

Anywho, while my husband was in the service department I was out browsing at new Jeeps, specifically a Gladiator since it has crossed our minds, and thinking well if this goes sour we'll likely be purchasing a new truck, LOL.

While I was out browsing, I was of course approached by a kind, professional, not pushy and very personable youthful sales woman named Cristal.

We've been treated so well we will likely be back when it is time to purchase that new Gladiator!

I'm not saying they'll be able to help you as a traveler the same day as we fortunately were, but they're upfront, honest, pleasant, professional real people, that are awesome!

Thank you everyone, even those that were involved which we never personally met. Getting us back on the road to enjoy our trip in our old Jeep and not a new Gladiator, saving us tens of thousands of dollars we don't have to spend.

By the way it was the #6 fuel injector and we went ahead just for good measure and had them replace the plugs and wires. Guess what additional parts will be added to our arsenal!
