Great neighborhood spot for delicious Senegalese food. My food came quickly after I ordered it and was so so good. Plantain was perfectly ripe and my yassa chicken and djolof were very flavorful. Love supporting them!

BEST LAMB EVER. RED SNAPPER IS ALSO A HIT!
I was in the area looking at a home to purchase in Kenwood. As I was diving down the street leaving the house. I saw this restaurant and decided that I would come and try the cuisine. Oh my goodness, the food is absolutely amazing. I highly highly recommend the red snapper and the lamb leg. It is probably some of the best lamb I have ever tasted and I eat out quite often. The service is OK but who cares when the food is just totally amazing. I also recommend trying their in-house ginger juice mixed with the in-house hibiscus juice so good so fresh yeah you just have to go and try this place!

My visit here today was my first time trying Senegalese cuisine and I was very pleasantly surprised! My friend has frequented this restaurant before and she chose it for her birthday Lucy spot.

She had the vegetarian plate and I had the yassa salmon. The salmon had a nice, light crispness on the outer skin, and was cooked perfectly so the inside was still tender and flaky. The grilled onion garnish was seasoned deliciously to the point that the onions take on a different texture! Really tasty! And the rice was cooked perfectly and provided a nice balance to the meal!

I tasted a bit of my friend’s vegetarian plate and it was also delicious. All of the food was really well prepared and seasoned. The owner was our server and was so attentive and kind.

The restaurant is also next door to a Senegalese clothing and goods store, same owner! Beautiful store!! I am a new fan of this place and Senegalese food!

I had to order for a large group and the staff did an amazing job helping me get the meal together. Great Djolof rice, Yassa Chicken, and Thiou curry. I would highly recommend the Yassa Salmon.

The food was phenomenal - I had the Yassa lamb and a side of plantains. It was superb - the lamb was tender and well seasoned, the rice had a nice spicy kick, and the plantains were cooked perfectly with a little crunch on the ends. I mixed everything together. I also tasted some of my friend’s tilapia, which was fantastic as well. The food took about 20 minutes to come out, but it was worth the wait. I definitely plan to go back.

My very first time at Goree was a great one but that was some years ago. This evening I returned with my two daughters, I was so excited to dine in with them. However, today was not a very good experience. When we arrived we were told we could sit anywhere we like. The atmosphere was great and the restaurant was not crowded at all. There was one man waiting on his order and another older man came in after me. The server gave us water and menus. After looking at the menu for some time, the server still had not returned to our table. She served the older man who came in after us water and immediately took his order. So after she noticed me looking puzzled, she said she would be right with us. She took our orders and we were the last ones to be served our food. People who had walked in off the street were served before us and the older man who came in after me was as well . The food (tilapia whole) lacked flavor so much from my last visit it was unbelievable. The jollof rice was old and not fresh at all . The saka saka had one shrimp in it and the rest was fat meat im assuming the lamb. I ordered french fries for my 5 year old daughter and the fries came out last , not to mention none of the food came out together. We had finished out food and the plates were very recognizable that we were done. Instead of asking us did we need to go boxes or the check the server yet again went over to the older man gave him his check and walked right past us. She went behind the counter and got on her phone , after I noticed that she wasn't intending on coming over to ask if we were done , I politely got up and asked to pay and I just paid at the register. I had to ask for the to go boxes, however I noticed how different and attentive the servers were to the white couple who came in as we were preparing to leave. I will never return here again , this was one of the worst experiences ever . I will continue to support Yassa African Restaurant on 35th and King Drive where the food is flavorful and the service is nice .

Incredible place if you're looking for some West African food. The place is nice with a good amount of seating as well. For the appetizer, I got the Fataya 8.7 (breaded salmon patties) and Nem 8.4 (eggroll with shrimp, chicken, and beef). It came with this tangy sweet sauce with a mild kick to it too. Both were good but the Fataya was my favorite.

For the main Yassa Fish over Djolof rice which was decent 8.2. The fish might have been overcooked it was a little dry but it was still cool. The winner was the Dibi Lamb 9.4. as you get a nice portion size of lamb chops and it was very flavorful...seasoned extremely well. A must-get thou is the Senegalese mint tea which was outstanding 9.7. It was delicious idk if I've ever had a mint tea like this before it was sooo good top tier. The customer was cool i was well taken care of the entire visit here very friendly...but if you are ever in the area thou hit them up. 9.0.
