Our city changed from Waste Management to Groot Refuse pickup in September 2024. I have lived in the same location for 24 years and have never used waste management services due to caring for an elderly person elsewhere. 1/2 bag of trash per week goes to their house. Is that wrong?

Groot has never delivered trash or recycling containers to my home. They have been contacted multiple times, to date (March 2025) stating this, but continue to send me bills. They have now sent my account to a collections agency. They refuse to cancel my past billing to date; September 2024 - March 2025, even though, their trash/recycling containers were never delivered to my home. I still have no containers after emailing, contacting them by phone, and returning written notices on billing statements. Is this wrong?

I have contacted customer service multiple times, re: undelivered Trash/recycling containers. I have billing statements, sent to Collections for unrendered services, but still no cans.

I am extremely dissatisfied with this company. I pay for garbage pickup. Today was my weekly garbage pickup day and the driver CHOSE what they wanted to pick up and left the rest. There was a large amount of trash to pick up but I made sure to stack everything up so that it would be a rather easy pick up and so that it would not fly all across the neighborhood. With that being said, the driver left things that he could have easily thrown in the back of the truck. I had a futon matter that was pretty light that has flown onto my neighbors property because he chose not to take it. I called in and the rep says no one will come back out until next week. So I am paying for a half a$$ job to be done. I have an elderly couple who lives in the property who can't remove the trash. They called me and made me aware that the trash was half picked up. Now I have to go back tonight after work to move it back to the rear until next week. I am livid with this service!! I only wish I could get paid for doing half of a job. If there was or is another way to have another company service me I would definitely switch. However, I will be researching! Maybe I should order a sign that says IF YOU DON'T WANT TO WORK, STAY HOME and send it to the company.

Thank you to my driver who waited patiently for my bf to bring out the recycles this morning after looking at the schedule and the website stating pickup was scheduled for Friday because of the holiday. I don't think its right to post the wrong pick up day for trash, especially after the holiday!

I don’t normally leave reviews for my garbage and recycling service but Groot has been impressive. Excellent customer service and such helpful drivers. They have picked up our huge pieces of wood, all our (big) empty boxes from furniture purchases, and all grass bags (even wet bags from storms overnight). Kudos to the guys who service our area.

Why is your office not picking up calls. First you didn't pick up my yard waste Tuesday. Called you at 4:58 that day, left a voicemail. No call back. Then called back Wednesday at 10:22A, 10:25A, 1P and 3:02P. Then I emailed your info email at 1:13P same day. Got a response from a Christina R at 4:22P stating that your office has a high call volume. Replied 4:36P that I have called and left voicemails with nothing back. Now I've been on the phone 20 minutes and nothing. The times I called before I could hold for 2-3 minutes and it forced me to leave a voicemail. What is going on?

UPDATE! Had to wait 31 minutes total for another location to finally pickup and be passive aggressive on the phone when I had questions. Great customer service.

If you are unfortunate enough to be a resident of Woodridge and are dealing with this terrible rollout, let’s commiserate together. Not only were the cans delivered incorrectly and all over the street and driveways, there have been multiple complaints by myself and our neighbors who are being billed for the wrong size container. When customer service is attempted to be reached, we are given an email and a hotline that fails to respond in a timely manner. I am unsure why a company is allowed to overcharge their customers and then claim they will give us credits. There have been multiple neighbors who are not getting a senior discount either, which with the prices of this I don’t blame them for being upset- I wish I could benefit!! The company is gouging us by getting rid of the sticker program that met the needs of multiple residents who do not need collection on a weekly basis. It’s a fault of woodridge for being conned into a contract with the company.

Groot replaced our previous provider in Downers Grove, IL Township & surrounding communities 6+ years or so ago. They gave us twice the service at a fraction of the price. Even offer Senior discount. (NO, this isn't why I gave 5 🌟s!!😁) Excellent Customer Service, Very Professional & Friendly (Office Staff & Driver's, etc) 🇺🇸 3 year enlisted Vietnam Veteran Approved ✌🇺🇸✌️
