Bought some sod and planted it as they told us too. After 3 weeks part of it started to die. We called and were told to keep watering it and it would come back. Waited another month or so with no regrowth. Went the today for help and told that the would do nothing for us. It was $70 of sod. costumer service was unacceptable. Told it had fungus. Never gave any solutions except it was our problem. I will never go back and I worn everyone about not getting any help after they get your money. I expected a lot more from them. I will now take my money to tractor supply. They have better plants and service.

Horrible customer service. We bought 2 yards of decorative stones, but we couldn't take them home at once because of the weight. We took one home, and when my husband went back to get the second yard, they closed the store and told him that they rather give him the money back than waiting for him to load the stones in the truck (they are supposed to close at 5:30 and it was 5:15pm).

Harken is THE place to go for hardscape materials. They have terrific assortment of loose stone, cut stone, steps and pavers. They also have displays showing birdbaths, firepits and outdoor grills. We had them special order and deliver a Henri water fountain—- which was perfect.

Only good thing was they were able to deliver next day. These are the ugliest Marble chips I have ever seen. Full of yellow stone and TONS of sand. Absolutely dirty. I had sent photos to the company and no apology just excuse of "it happens". If you are going to sell this then update your photos online to show the true color.

Not very helpful. Went to get bags of gravel and top soil. They said someone would be over to load it for us since they don’t really want the customer to do it. After waiting about 10 minutes or more in 90+ heat, we went back inside and the girl paged someone again. After another 10 minutes or so, we finally loaded it ourselves as we were tired of waiting. As we started to leave, the guy finally drives up in his forklift, which wasn’t needed anyway. So don’t expect great customer service at times from them.

DYI / father and son project - 1000 sq ft including (paver patio, fire pit, retaining wall, retaining wall lights, cobblestones for driveway edging, and top soil)...all purchased through Harkens.

I’m a father and working professional with no prior masonry experience. The above project would have never been completed without the help and guidance from Harkens Staff, especially the owner Jamie.

Prior to doing business with Harkens, I visited a handful of other masonry / landscaping yards and the customer service that I received at Harkens is what won my business.

I’m not a contractor nor a business owner, getting into this size of a project was a little overwhelming but Jamie took the time to not just push product my way but validate many of my pending questions and quote me accordingly with products that would stay within my budget.

After several visits to Harkens, Jamie took time out of his busy schedule and in between of helping other customers to reviewed my project design and answered many questions.

Prior to starting this project, my research consisted YouTube and reading. During the project, I encountered many unforeseen questions where my research didn’t provide answers too. I had the privilege to be able to contact Jamie directly and obtain quick tips and guidance.

Overall, it was a true pleasure doing business with Harkens. Customer Service, quality of product, and delivery exceeded my expectations and hope that any DYI person that has the willingness to take on any size DYI project, please consider visiting Harkens for your business needs. You will not be disappointed.

My husband and I went to Harkens to look for patio and wall stones. Jamie was very helpful on how to begin and planning. The best patio and garden store I have found in CT. I recommend this location to everyone. The selection of plants and garden accessories is amazing. Plan to spend several hours.
