I had HazMat come out on 6/1/2016 to clean out the oil/water separator at my oil change shop. When talking to the sales person prior to them coming out, I was told that I couldn’t be given a price because they weren’t sure how much water versus how much oil was in the tank (oil and water are two separate prices). I told the sales rep what other companies were charging but he informed me that they would do a better job which included cleaning the tanks out with water. He assured me that HazMat was the best company at doing this and that they would take care of us since we were a long time customer. When they came out to do the job, they were here for less than 1 hour. When pumping out the oil/water mixture, one of the guys doing the job asked if I had a water hose down in the basement area. I told him that I didn’t, and that was the end of the conversation. I was under the impression that they had water on the truck, or that he was going to use his own water hose and tap in to our water line so that they could clean out the tank, guess not since it wasn’t done. I talked to other companies before HazMat came out so I know what other companies were charging, so when I got the bill of $1,012.88 for just sucking out the water/oil mixture, I was VERY surprised. Their price per gallon which was $.75 cents (they didn’t differentiate between oil and water), was reasonable and comparable to other companies, but their truck fee of $550 was OUTRAGEOUS. I talked to two other companies and for just sucking out the oil and water mixture, which is what HazMat did, I was quoted $610 and $445. I have been using HazMat for over 8 years and I figured that they would take care of a regular customer, but I guess not. Whenever I need to have this service done again, I know who I won’t be calling. They are fine for used oil and oil filter pickup, but stay away from everything else.
