I reserved a car on Expedia. That process was smooth and easy. The Friday before I was supposed to pick up the car, I got a call saying they would be opening at 10:00 on Monday, due to the weather. I got there at 10:00 and no one was there. They closed and I was not notified after driving 40 miles in deep snow. I canceled my rental and they tried to charge me a cancellation fee. I called the office and the guy there was extremely rude. I asked if someone in the office could help me and he said I would have to call corporate. I asked why he couldn't answer my question. His reply was "are you going to let me speak or keep interrupting me?" I called corporate and finally got my cancellation fee removed from my credit card. This is the worst experience I've ever had renting a car. The only reason I gave one stare is because there wasn't an option for a negative number of stars. Horrible experience and horrible customer service. The corporate people were nice and helpful. I will never use Hertz again as long as I live! I will also tell everyone I can about the horrible employee I had to deal with at the Marion Illinois Veterans Airport location.

Folks please read the reviews don't take my word for it and please after reading realize this guy and hertz don't care about there customers look at all the negative comments and the piss poor way hertz as a gold standard company handles the continued poor customer service at this site I'd rather walk than use hertz again my wife end up waiting until 11am for a vehicle that wasn't available at the 8am promised time then told he just didn't want to rent to her because she wanted corporate number and his name due to poor customer service this dude is bad news trust me on this one you will be sorry you did it and as far getting anywhere with hertz good luck you have been well informed good luck

Was in a car accident and my insurance set this up I was 10 late for my pick up time because I was reliant on a ride they were extremely rude chastising me like a child and then refused to let me rent a car. I certainly would not do personal business with someone with this attitude or policy

Haven't even rented from this place but I'm glad I read the comments first. I will NOT be renting from here. Seems like for at minimum, the last 3 months you have staffed the worst possible employees for customer service. I don't want any of that smoke and sorry for anyone who has had to deal with these people and these attitudes. I cant believe what I'm reading in the comments and the lack of care hertz has about this alarming rate of complaints.

These crooks added an optional PDW coverage without me noticing for $14.99 per day. I can't even blame them because I should have noticed it on the receipt, but I was in a rush. I have been renting for years at rental car shops and I never had a location pull this sort of low level scam with me. This is completely illegal, and I would say you guys are lucky I cannot proof this was added without my informed consent. Be very careful at this location and triple check your receipt.

Made on line reservation. Everything appeared to be in order. I was contacted by this office the morning of the scheduled pickup, ensuring I brought my DL, credit card and insurance card to complete the transaction. I was informed my rental would be ready to go, upon my arrival. I was then called back an hour and half before my scheduled pickup time, by Alex, to inform me my car was no longer available. I asked if there was any other option, because I was scheduled to leave in an hour and a half, after a few minutes sitting on hold, he came back on the line to tell me he had a another vehicle available but i'd have to pay an additional fee of roughly $300. I informed him to just disregard my reservation, that wasn't in my allowable budget.
I called Enterprise, paid $5 more than the original Hertz price, and was on the road, on time.
I did have to file fraud charges with my credit card company, because the nice local Hertz office charged me a $50 cancellation fee.
Horrible customer service and I will no longer utilize, nor recommend Hertz. Two weekends, in a row, of hassle free, easy renting from Enterprise has ensured my continued business.

I should have checked the reviews before booking a rental here for my wife. She presented a Major Credit Card (Discover) told the agent she had coverage through the card, the Orbitz CDW, and also full coverage personal auto insurance that transfers to the rental. He demanded her insurance company information and wouldn't let her leave without it. He then told her to hurry as he needed to go to lunch. She didn't have the policy documents as her card is in her car (in MA). She called me hysterically saying this guy was impatient, badgering her about how long she was going to take, etc. I strongly recommend you look elsewhere for your rental needs. They should be ashamed, she left in tears after I had to scramble to find my policy information.
