My partner Mick and I stayed here at the end of March, and honestly—don’t even waste time looking at other places in Guerneville. This resort is an absolute 5-star gem! From the moment we stepped out of the car, we knew we were somewhere special. The landscaping is lush and beautifully maintained, the cabins are charming and spotless, and the pool and main resort area are pristine and inviting.

Although it’s right in town, the property feels incredibly peaceful and secluded—just a short stroll to everything, yet it feels like a private oasis. Every detail has been thoughtfully curated to create a truly relaxing escape.

Huge shoutout to our incredible hosts, Cathy, Julie, and Ashley—your warmth and hospitality made our stay even more memorable. We’re already dreaming about our next visit!

My wife and I stayed at Highlands in mid-February, and we absolutely loved it! From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. The service was excellent, and the rooms were impeccably clean. One of the highlights was the beautiful bonfire pit, surrounded by towering redwoods, creating the perfect atmosphere for a cozy and relaxing evening.

The included breakfast was simple but delightful, featuring delicious homemade bread, yogurt, and hard-boiled eggs—just the right way to start the day. A special thank you to Cathy, the manager, for her warm hospitality. We will definitely be booking here again!

My adult daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Highlands Resort. It’s an incredibly peaceful and relaxing place to unwind. Fun fact: I learned this resort used to be a nudist retreat, though today you'll need to keep things covered! The grounds are beautifully maintained, offering a serene, woodsy feel, despite being conveniently close to town. While it’s a bit of a hill, the walk into town is manageable for those who don’t mind a little incline. We ate nearby at Boon Eat & Drink and Road Trip, which were both fantastic! |The cabins are immaculate, beautifully designed, and tastefully decorated. Although there are no TVs, internet is available, allowing for the perfect balance between unplugging and staying connected if needed. The beds were extremely comfortable, with premium sheets that made for a restful night's sleep.|The staff at Highlands Resort is exceptional, and the other guests we encountered were equally relaxed and friendly. Many were repeat visitors, eager to share tips on nearby hiking trails. The overall atmosphere is one of peace and camaraderie, making it a truly special place. I’m already looking forward to returning, perhaps with a group of friends, as the idea of each couple having their own charming cabin is incredibly appealing.

This resort is the best place I have stayed on my 2 week road trip!||It is quiet, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff goes above and beyond and it is only 2 blocks from downtown. Sitting amongst the redwoods was so relaxing and the pool and fire pit area are nice amenities. The continental breakfast was yummy too(great, homemade breakfast bread!)||Cathy(the owner), couldn't have been more accommodating when I had a minor issue with my refrigerator.||I will definitely come back and stay the next time I am in the area... hopefully this winter!!||Thanks for everything Cathy!!!

Guerneville isn’t a fancy sort of town so don’t expect any over the top hotels. Highlands is the perfect balance of woodland charm and comfort. It almost feels like a B&B. The pool is delightful, the scenery is peaceful and beautiful and the service is excellent. We stayed in a Deluxe Studio and it was perfect. We had. Fridge, a sink, couch, coffee table, dining (cafe) table, bed and a nice bathroom. There was complimentary continental breakfast and the whole property was tranquil and felt like it was a woodland oasis.

Highlands Resort in Guerneville offers a peaceful retreat in the heart of nature, and I had the pleasure of spending two nights there. Surrounded by towering redwoods, the LGBTQ+-friendly resort provides a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. The cozy, well-maintained cabins have a rustic charm that fits perfectly with the serene surroundings. The outdoor pool area is definitely a highlight, perfect for lounging and soaking up the sun. The staff is incredibly kind and accommodating, making sure everyone feels right at home. It's an excellent choice for anyone seeking tranquility and natural beauty in Sonoma County.

The only drawback I found was that check-in isn't until 4:00 p.m.—I think it would be better if it were earlier.

My husband and I recently spent three nights at this delightful place and couldn’t have been happier. The roomy cabin we stayed in (#10) was newly refurbished and charming, nestled in the woods. The gas fireplace kept the cabin cozy warm. The king bed was comfy and the shower was quite good. Cathy made sure that great hospitality was provided every step of the way. We’d love to return some day of our travels once again bring us to the glorious Sonoma coast. Highly recommend.

Very nice rooms but lack a few things. You should survey and go to Safeway to pickup things like coffee and other things. The breakfast opens a 8:30 which is a bit late for us. No uwave in the room but it has a fridge and hot water maker.
