Unfortunately another business that takes advantage of women...
From the initial conversation, the service was poor and that should've been an indicator of how the rest of the service would go. I was able to get scheduled the day that I called. There was no upfront conversation about pricing - although I could have asked, it's worth letting your customer know ahead of time what the initial service fee will cost. The tech came out, was a super nice guy, and was left with the decision for him or myself to order the part. I received a bill for $125 for the 15 minutes he was there. After finding the part for $450 less I called to schedule the tech to come back out. I was made to feel bad that I ordered the part and that I owed them something for being kind enough to make an exception. That's on the tech, not me, but yet he was quite rude about it. After being told it would be another $125 an hour for him to come back and install it I continued to feel I was being taken advantage of as a woman "not knowing any different". I understand a minimum charge regardless if it's 10 minutes or 59 minutes, but being charged twice even if both visits are less than an hour is unfortunate. I was told it was "industry standard", however I called a few other HVAC places after I (admittedly) hung up and was told that would not be how they would charge.
They can schedule you fast, and the tech was nice, but my suggestion is to be clear and upfront about pricing ahead of time.

I can’t say enough great things about HMS. They installed 5 heat pumps in my house and did a very professional job. The techs were friendly and knowledgeable and their prices were better than any other company in Humboldt. Highly recommend!!!!

Prompt to respond and call back, they did a thorough assessment of our system and identified our needs as well as provided a balanced projection of needs and the life of our system at the time. We dealt with several HVAC companies when trying to fix an issue where my son's room did not heat up like the rest of the house. One company gave us a huge quote & never went under our house to look at anything, another tried to sell us something we didn't want, and another never showed up for the estimate. However, Humboldt Mechanical Solutions showed us that they were a great company from the start. During the estimate, Owen did a thorough inspection under the house and gave us some very thoughtful and honest solutions to our problem. They were very responsive to our calls and questions and were able to get the job done in a quick turnaround at a very reasonable price. They also offered to come back and tweak things if our problem was not solved. Their solution solved our issue and they did an outstanding job installing our HVAC system. We will be recommending them to everyone we know & look forward to working with them again in the future.

Humboldt Mechanical Solutions replaced my furnace and tank water heater with a new high efficiency furnace and tankless on demand hot water heater, and upgraded my gas line to make all my appliances run efficiently. They did a beautiful installation, I love my new appliances, and they work perfectly. I highly recommend them. They are top notch professionals, and they do a great job.
