The internet sucks. Barely works and is super slow. Once fiber gets to our town we will be switching and never going back to this company. I called 2 times within a couple days and nothing has changed.

I’m going to post one more review. I’m fed up. This company knows what they’re doing. They have a monopoly and they can charge whatever they want to. They provide completely inadequate service. They charge triple what other power companies charge. They’re charging me $60 a month for MAXIMUM of 2mb/s download speeds.
They used to respond to my complaints but they don’t even do that anymore. Probably because they don’t have to staff that would be required for the volume of complaints that they get.

Would anyone else be on board with a class action lawsuit? They’re ripping off thousands of people.

IEC is the only company that services the area that I’m in. Constantly have issues. It goes out all the time, I can barely even stream Netflix. I most certainly can’t have more than one device active at a time. $60 a month. I’d get better bandwidth at McDonalds for free. LAY SOME FIBER. There are 20+ apartments out here that you service. You’d make your freaking money back. Customer service is good. But that’s it.

Also they charge like double for power as anyone else. If you can avoid moving to an area that they service. You should.

They are bleeding the rural population of Greene County dry. They charge 8.4 cents per kWh, while Ameren charges just 3.3 cents per kWh. The excuse given to me by an employee was "It costs more to live in a rural area." But when I lived in rural Morgan County, I had Ameren and my bills never went over $250 (even when we ran out of propane and used electric space heaters to heat our 2,000 sqft home for a month). My LOWEST bill with Illinois Electric Co-Op was $234. That was in September and October without heat or air conditioning running.
The residents here are paying more for their electricity than they are for their mortgage. My bill in the winter ranges from $650 to $850 a month for my 2,100 sqft ranch style home. My neighbor rents out an average size, double-wide trailer that is heated with propane. The electric bill is STILL around $500-600 a month.
Illinois Electric Co-Op is taking advantage of the people of Greene County (and all counties they serve). But because they're not a public utility company, they get away with it. If you're buying a home in a rural area, make sure you're not being forced to get your electricity through one of these cooperatives throughout the state. Had I known, I wouldn't have bought this house. And now I can't sell it because of the insane electric bills.

Rates are average but they over charge you with delivery fees and minimum meter charges !! Internet is only available with line of sight from towers, doesn't help the rural community much at all.

I hate how they have us trapped. No other internet provider covers New Salem and Illinois rural is charging us $250 start up fee and it's $60 a month 😳 this is ridiculous

Internet is super slow and there are ridiculous start up fees. But there are no other providers for this area so we have no choice.
