Charles Anton is my Sales Rep and I cannot say enough good things about his deep knowledge and kind caring manner in explaining all aspects of the decision and final purchasing of my home’s solar panels. He walked through every aspect of the process, sometimes answering and then drilling down into finer points clearly and patiently. I did purchase my system from ION. We are 2/3 of the way to hookup and every step has been smooth. The team that installed the panels were a well oiled machine completing the job ahead of the time promised. As a homeowner who recently had a 27-panel solar panel array installed by ION Solar, I cannot express enough how satisfied I am with their service. From start to finish, the entire process was smooth and efficient. They guided me step-by-step throughout the entire 5 month long process, assisting with everything ranging from getting H.O.A. signatures/approval, getting my local county Building Permits & Inspection(s), and the required documents/approvals required with our local energy provider Dominion Energy.

Update: So it is 2.5 years later. They have scheduled to come the first part of January to rebuild the array. With that said Ion solar has yet to fix the array. I cannot calculate how many phone calls have been made promises given and time wasted dealing with Ion solar’s bureaucracy. First their installers caused the problem, then their managers did not want to fix it right, now they want to fix it during the coldest part of the year. In their last attempt they screwed up the array so much that it reduced the output and for the first time since it was installed I have had to pay my power bill to n December instead of February or March. Find someone else if you want a company that will stand behind their product and complete repairs in a reasonable period of time.

The installers seemed to care more about installing my 52 panels as quickly as possible, than the quality of their work. They get bonuses based on the number of panels they install. I have a ground mount. Not one pole is plumb, level or straight. None of them are aligned. There is a huge dip in the solar array. It is a giant eyesore. Apparently, it was the first time they used this mounting system, hopefully it is the last. They did not have all of the tools they needed, such as a laser level, or the correct mount for the skid steer to auger the post into the ground. The only redeeming quality was the electrical panels on the side of the house, they look like a professional took pride in his work. Everything else needs to be plumbed, leveled, and squared. There is even a bent pole. I have complained several times to ion solar and have yet to receive any feedback. I cannot in good conscience recommend them until they fix the eye sore they left in my backyard and I am not holding my breath.

Ion Electric executed the installation of 25 panels and associated equipment in one day. Work site was left immaculate, the equipment was positioned exactly as advertised, and the conduit was color matched to our brick to mask its installation.

One month into usage, the system has underperformed. We have never generated over 60% of our house needs, most times averaging 55%. We were told the system would put out enough power to sell power back to dominion power but that has never happened.

I’ve reached out to the salesman and the company but no one wants to make this right.
