Amazing once in a lifetime experience. We were in such good hands with Chris as our very experienced pilot and a trusted guide! Ashley was wonderful in accommodating our family of four on such short notice. In addition to numerous bears we saw on the beach, Chris took us inland to get upfront and close to mama bear and her cubs!!! Would give 10 stars if I could. Thank you J Bear Tours.

Amazing tour and even more amazing company! This bear tour was the highlight of our trip and I highly recommend it! Chris is a fabulous pilot who made us feel safe the entire time in the air and on the ground close to the bears. Where you go is weather dependent. We went a few weeks ago (late June) and went to Lake Clark National Park. Very cool to see a NP that is really only accessible by boat or plane. We saw over 20 bears with lots of momma bear and cubs duos!! My favorite part was when some of the bears walked out on the beach to find clams. We got to see them dig for clams right in front of us and they didn’t care that we were there. It was the coolest thing!! The flight home was beautiful flying over mountains, seeing glaciers and beautiful Homer from the sky! If you are thinking of doing a bear tour, this is the tour to book, you will not regret it!!

One of the highlights of our trip! Chris was a great tour guide. First off, you ride in a small plane to get to the bears. It was a comfort knowing that not only was Chris a well-seasoned pilot with much experience, but he was also an airplane mechanic. Once we were on the island, Chris knew how to approach the bears in a way that did not stress either us or the bears. We were able to get within 20 yards of a mother bear and her two cubs. We could hear the bears talking with each other. It was an incredible experience. There were other tour groups on the island. What I appreciated about Chris was he knew how safe we could get to the bears. So, while we were within 20 yards, the other groups were much farther away. If you take Chris and J Bear Tours, you will have an amazing time.

J Bear Tours is awesome! Ashley was very communicative right from the start and the process of booking and getting ready for the flight was easy. Chris was an awesome pilot and wonderful guide. His easy-going calm presence is just what you want when observing bears in the wild. Words can't really describe the experience - it was magical! The flight itself, being at Lake Clark National Park and of course observing and photographing bears in their natural environment. Experience of a lifetime for our family! Highly recommend J Bear tours to anyone planning an Alaska Adventure.

Just went on this tour a few days ago & had a fantastic time!! Chris & Ashley were wonderful. This tour exceeded our expectations. I never write reviews but felt the need to say how great they are! This is a small husband & wife company & you will definitely get that intimate experience. It was obvious that Chris was one of the best tour guides compared to others that we had witnessed. He really tried to get us the best bear viewing experience. 5 stars for J Bears!!

J Bear Tours is an excellent company to deal with. Right from the start of the process they were quick to answer any questions and kept in contact. The day of our trip he was watching the weather closely to make sure we had the best chance at success. Chris is a great pilot and guide. Safety both in the plane and with the bears is a priority. The groups are small which is perfect for this type of trip. I can't believe how close the bears were to us. We felt safe but it was definitely surreal. A PERFECT trip. I would definitely recommend J Bear Tours to anyone wanting to see the Grizzlies. (We saw 8 today - AMAZING!!)

All around amazing!
Chris and his wife were wonderful! They kept an eye on the weather and were in close communication on what day and time was going to give us the best opportunities. Chris is a great pilot and guide. If you had any questions, Chris was very knowledgeable and able to answer them but he let us just enjoy and take in the moment. Some guides talk too much and it takes away from the experience and I really appreciate Chris allowing us to just be in the bears world and habitat. We were lucky enough to have a male brown bear walk within 10-12 feet from us and I felt very safe with Chris as our guide. Thank you so much for such and unbelievable experience!!
