When I rented a single story apartment, 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, my electricity bill was $400 per month during the winter. Now that I live in Iowa, 10 minutes away across the bridge, my electricity bill is $120 a month in the winter.
Not sure what type of scam they are running at this company but there’s no way I was using more energy in that apartment than I do heating a 3 story, 4 bedroom, and 3 bathroom home.

A big shout-out and thank you the staff at JCE Co-op in Elizabeth. I was having fiber issues today and the staff was super responsive, calling me with updates from the office and the technician in the field. Also received email updates. Everything was fixed pretty quickly. Amazing customer service in the office and in the field!

Poor service horrible people to deal with. Highest electricity prices I've ever paid higher than Alberta in any place in the south. If you take a trip God help you if you're late they'll spam you with tons of calls and mail. For the amount of money they spend on sending a letter a day after or calling to be saved and used to lower their freaking prices. A one-bedroom house on JoCarroll is more than a four bedroom house in Alberta Canada or Panama combined per mth . Right now they're jacking prices cuz they know electric cars are on the way . 30 to 45% more than any other place I own or have lived at for same usage. If I was staying in the area I would recommend everyone call their local representative and complain because they're not a power company so they don't have to follow the rules

BEYOND tired of paying high electric bills. I've lived in my 2 bedroom trailer for 12 years and never once has it been below $150 no matter what I did. Nowadays it's always over $200 no matter what I do. What I'm really tired of is if you get a disconnection they'll STILL charge you the $100 fee they used to charge to send someone out to disconnect you meanwhile they shut it off and turn it back on with their fat fingers in an office and think charging you $100 extra on an already high electric bill is acceptable. You will absolutely hate living in this area for the electric costs and extra fees if the taxes didn't already discourage you.

Our fiber connection is working great. Haven’t had any problems with any of our televisions, computers, phones, etc.

Don’t even deserve one star. Better hope you have a job making at least $30 an hour to afford their “service” every month. I’ve lived all over Iowa and Illinois and this has to be the most price gouging company I’ve had to deal with. My parents live just south in Morrison and have a substantially bigger house that’s all electric and pay less than half of what this place charges.
There was one time when I had an emergency with my finances. Came home after work to a note on the door, the day after my due date, saying my service will be shut off the next day at 9am. Granted I didn’t see this note till 6pm when they are closed. I called the next morning asking if they would work with me on paying partial now and they said I would still be disconnected if I didn’t pay in full. Horrible customer service.

We have our property on autopay with Jo-Carroll Energy. Yet every three months or so, we get a letter stating service is about to be disconnected.

I go in and look at the account... payments are always up-to-date.

How do these letters get sent "by mistake" time-and-time again without any corrective action?

This isn't a company. It's a bunch of incompetent buffoons who don't care about anything.
