Today ordered a veggie Rasta Pasta dish but it lacked sauce and veggie’s I know because I ordered it the night before and it was fire lol I was half way home when I realized it, so I went back I honestly just wanted some sauce in a container and I would have been fine. The staff and cooks went over and beyond gave me some sauce on the side and an extra Rasta Pasta Veggie dish, I honestly wasn’t expecting that. I’ve been eating here for quite some time the food is always consistent the service is always consistent and the place is always clean. Thank you so much for your hospitality, service and kind generous spirit. I will always support and to everyone reading this you have to try this place out the number 1 go to for Jerk food in the Hyde Park area. IG @Desadierr_

I went to this restaurant at 11:45am, they had just opened at 11am. I ordered a 2 half mixed meals with macaroni, cabbage and rice. Upon receiving my food when I got home I noticed the food didn’t look fresh! In fact the food looked old like it was left over from the night before. I took the food back to get a refund but they have a no refund policy. I was told the food wasn’t old and my only option was to get the food remade. The difference in the replacement made it even more clear to me that I in fact got old food from the night before! My opinion is that they sell their old left over food from the night before at opening time for their “lunch special” which is from 11am-2pm and when they run out, that is when they give out the freshly made food that was prepared that day. I’m High disappointed. I spent $50, which was a total waste of money because my appetite was ruined and I couldn’t even eat the food!

Edit: I left a good review a month ago since then I ate here twice both times I got chicken that was reddish pink. I doubt these guys look at the cooking temperature of their chicken when making it. It seems like every Jamaican restaurant in Chicago has this problem with very bad or just plain raw chicken. My advice just make it yourself it’s a very easy recipe.

I’ve visited the Jerk Yard 2x. The food is very good with exception of the macaroni (bland & dry). The cashiers lack hospitality and lack knowledge of the menu board prices versus the POS system. This could easily be a 5 star experience if the business provides full transparency with menu prices.

Ex: Lunch Rasta Pasta is $10.00 with the option of protein for $3.00. I asked for Shrimp and the register displayed $20.00. I asked the cashier and her response was you’re automatically charged the dinner price for shrimp. I asked what are my protein options, she stated salmon and chicken. I then asked for Salmon, which was an additional $5.00. ATP, I’m confused because the menu stated protein $3.00 and not chicken as the only protein option for $3.00. I purchased anyway because I want to support local businesses and I was hungry.

I will not be returning until there is full transparency with pricing.

Edit: Went back again after their Grand Opening and this place still hits. My wife tried the jerk salad…delicious. You come for the jerk but stay for the Mac n cheese.

New Jerk spot in Hyde Park. Their jerk sauce was delicious. Great food, great customer service. Wife and I got the white and dark chicken and a side of Mac n cheese. Everything was homemade and really good. We will definitely be back. Prices were comparable. They have a few seats inside and a place to stand and eat on their “patio”. Overall I’d recommend it.

I really like jerk yard but lately it’s been a hit or miss. My macaroni was so disgusting this trip. $2 up charge on the dinner for this Mac & it’s dry, oddly mixed together, & half done.

I will say this place has its ups and downs. Depending who is working the front register will determine the service of your pickup order or how long you will wait. However, this will be my last time eating here! Upon eating my food this last time, I noticed my chicken WAS NOT COOKED THOROUGHLY. Please be careful eating at this place guys! Check your food and proceed with caution if you eat here. Seriously. I am so disappointed!

THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME ME AND MY HUSBAND CAME HERE. THE FIRST TIME THE FOOD WAS 😋 VERY GOOD, BUT WE DIDNT GET ANY BREAD. I DIDNT THINK NOTHING OF IT. FAST FOWARD TO 12/17/24 WE DROPPED IN BC THE FIRST TIME IT WAS SO GOOD. I WAS TELLING MY DAUGHTER ABOUT IT AND SHE GOOGLED IT AND WANTED SOME IMMEDIATELY, SHE WAS LIKE MOMMA IT COMES WITH THE BREAD, I SAID I DIDNT GET BREAD 😤 THE LAST TIME, SO I PLACED MY ORDERS AND TO MY SURPRISE IT WAS RIGHT ON THE MENU BREAD COMES WITH ALL DINNERS, SO I ASKED THE GURL AND SHE SAID NO, I SAID ITS RIGHT THERE ON YALL MENU, SHE SAID THEY HAVE TO FIX THAT, THEN SAID IF YOU WANT BREAD ILL GIVE IT TO YOU NO PROBLEM. I SAID THANKS, NOT TO MENTION IF YOU WANT MAC AND CHEESE OR SWEET POTATOES ITS AN EXTRA $2 EACH, NO PROBLEM ILL PAY FOR WHAT I WANT. SHE ONLY GIVE ME BREAD FOR 3 OF 5 DINNERS. MORAL OF THE STORY IS CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EVERYTHING I CAME FROM INDIANA READ THE MENU ONLINE AS WELL AS IN THE STORE. AND STILL 🤔 WAS TOLD NO. I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FOOD IT WAS VERY VERY VERY GOOD I PAID FOR 5 DINNERS ONLY GOT BREAD FOR 2 AND WAS VERY INSULTED WHEN I HAD TO PAY $2 PER SLICE FOR THR OTHER 2 DINNERS. 10/10 RECOMMEND
