This has been the worst experience I have ever had by far with an engineer. I currently have two projects with them and they are both complete disasters. One project was sent to the county and the county denied it. KJE wanted to charge me again to have the plans fixed so it would be approved by the county. When I try to get a response from them about anything it is a minimum of two weeks. They have been working on one of my projects since April of 2020 and it is still not passed by the county. The other project is in OKC and again the city rejected the plans, then they corrected them and then the city rejected them again. They have been working with this project since December of 2020. It is still not passed the city approval. I am beyond frustrated and hope that this review will help get my projects done and passed because I don't really know what else to do. Please save yourselves a LOT of time, frustration and thousands of dollars by choosing another engineering company. Update February 2025: My engineering plans are still not done. I am going on 5 years now. I feel like a hostage.

Our company had a very, very poor experience with KJE and would not recommend them to anyone. We got multiple bids from several engineers and these guys pushed really hard to get our work, bragging that they were experts with the city that we were doing a project in. The put together a proposal and started the work. Things started well, but took a really bad turn. They tried to bill us 80% of the bid when only about 20% of the work was done. When we told them we'd rather run the payments in stages as work was completed, like we do with everyone else, their responsiveness, professionalism, deadlines and communication changed significantly. They stopped returning calls and responding. We even started calling from different phone numbers to get them to answer. The work was poorly received at the city and very slow going. Because of the poor work we had to pay extra significant review fees and miss deadlines with our project. Finally, KJE broke their contract and told us we'd have to pay more or they wouldn't finish. When asked why we needed to pay more, they said the work was a lot harder than they realized. When we reminded them that they said that they were experts in this city, it didn't go well. They told us they wouldn't do anything else unless we signed their change order. Being held over a barrel with significant expenses adding up by waiting, we were forced to do that. They promised they'd get on track and be professional again for more money. They didn't keep that promise either. They completely stopped work again after they received more money from us and told us, after a week of trying to get a hold of them, that we'd have to pay the full amount owed for them to finish, even though we were only about 55% done now. We told them absolutely not and threatened legal action to enforce their contract. In what might have been one of their first honest moments with us, they told us their company was going under and they needed the money to keep their doors open. When asked how we'd know if we paid them if they'd actually finish or close their doors anyway, they wouldn't give a clear answer. Then they wanted a huge fee to release the drawings to us to get a solvent and responsive engineer to finish the work for us. This firm does not honor their contract, two of them. They do not keep their word. They are extremely difficult to work with. The cherry on top might be that after getting a look at their CAD files, our new engineer is recommending a nearly complete redraw of the site stating that their grading, calculations, drainage etc. are all very off. We will never do business with this company again, even if they do keep their doors open somehow.
