As a realtor with just shy of two decades of experience, I typically refrain from leaving negative reviews; however, the recent experience I had with Maclean & Ema compels me to share my disappointment. Historically, my interactions with this firm have been satisfactory, and I've found them efficient and well-regarded in our industry. In this particular transaction, where I represented the sellers, the buyers chose Maclean & Ema for the closing. My sellers consulted me about whether to hire their own attorney or allow Maclean & Ema to handle their documentation. Although I would usually recommend using a separate attorney almost all of the time, I recommended Maclean & Ema, noting my past satisfactory experiences and the significant discount they offer sellers in order not to deal with another attorney.

That was a HUGE MISTAKE! The handling of the transaction began with Olivia, with whom I've had past dealings. After several instances of her not delivering on her word, she transferred the file to Denise, who unfortunately continued the same pattern of unreliability. When we finally made it to the closing day I called Denise to confirm she received the sellers FedEx package.
She confirmed she received the package, assured me that all documents were checked and that the seller’s proceeds would be wired within 15 minutes. I then informed the sellers of the imminent receipt of their funds. However, prior to the seller's wire being completed, it was discovered that Maclean and Ema had not sent the closing statement to the sellers and therefore, had not been signed by them, which delayed the closing and funding by an additional day. This oversight was particularly distressing as I only learned of it after being confronted by the sellers late in the day, upset over the unfulfilled wire transfer.

Additional errors were made throughout the process. Essential documents were not sent on promised dates, resulting in a 2-week delay due to the sellers’ having to leave town. Denise incorrectly claimed that they had not received the commission breakdown until after the HUD had been finalized, despite Maclean and Ema having received, and acknowledged, the commission breakdown over a month earlier. Therefore, the incorrect commission was charged to the sellers, a mistake which I absorbed myself due to the multiple errors made by Maclean & Ema. What's even more disturbing is that Denise, even after finding out that it was Maclean and Ema's mistake, told me "Why don't you just call the sellers and get the money from them?" So after working with these sellers for eight months, preparing their property for sale, and securing a sale in less than three days at full price, while comparable units lingered on the market, I expected to leave my clients extremely satisfied. Instead, due to the numerous mistakes by Maclean & Ema, these sellers are now unresponsive to my communications. This experience with Maclean and Ema is completely unacceptable in an industry that demands high professional standards, and has completely tarnished the trust and relationship I had built with my clients. Safe to say, I will not be recommending Maclean and Ema in any future business.
