Because we knew someone in Arizona who had run into difficulty with selling their home due to a radon gas contingency, on a whim, we bought a couple of radon test kits off the internet, followed the instructions, resulting in a confirmed finding of radon levels in our own home at least 3+ times higher than our government has determined is a safe exposure. It’s a horrifying feeling to learn your house is filled with radon gas way above any acceptable level. Since we live in an area where radon isn’t recorded as a common problem, it wasn’t easy to determine what should be done about it. No one we spoke to locally had any experience, answers or recommendations for how to deal with it. Upon pursuit of the issue through the State of California, GM Remediation was a skilled construction company recommended as being certified for diagnostics and remediation of our radon gas problem.

Since the source of radon gas is Mother Earth and the entry of the gas into our home was primarily through the slab foundation connecting us to her, the Mandels discretely drilled a few strategically placed test holes in our flooring to determine whether they could successfully suck the radon gas out of the house to control the gas level sufficiently and, if so, how much suction would be required, with the goal being to contain our radon levels below that of the more stringent European standard. Having objectively determined those factors, they designed and installed a suction system with keen regard for protection of the aesthetics and against the noise pollution for the end result. Mission accomplished!

MG Remediation was dependably responsive, methodical, well coordinated and responsible for all aspects of the diagnostics, design, and installation of our radon mitigation solution. To a person, it was a pleasure having them here on the job.

We had abatement work done and the price was very reasonable considering the scope of work. We ended up meeting w the owner of the company at our place so he could look at the task and accurately quote the job. He took the time to clearly break down in detail everything needed to be done and made us feel comfortable with the price. They left the worksite clean to the point that you’d never have known that they were there, and the quality of the work was obvious.

The best part was that when we thought we had an issue and ended up reaching out to the owner, he immediately responded and was ready to schedule a crew to remedy. Other contractors (or vendors outside of construction) would immediately try to get rid of you, but not MG. In the end, it was our mistake and nothing further was needed, but I was so impressed by the owner’s reaction. With the construction market being what it is in SF, it’s uncommon to find value and honesty within the trades, but you have it here.

I’d definitely bring these guys back.
